I need to compound/polish/wax my boat this month. I purchased a Milwaukee 7” polisher tool only last fall for this task (and others). It seems like 7” is an outlier on sizing for polishers of this type, with most being in the 5.5” to 6.5” size. Milwaukee makes a $20 wool pad and a $15 yellow foam polishing pad for their machine, apparently they discontinued their black finishing pad. In looking at other options, the only one that appears to be a sure fit is the TCP Global. Their pad kit includes a new backing plate in case the Milwaukee one isn’t the right fit.

I haven’t seen other kits that include a new backing plate. I saw Mcguires makes some pads, as do other brands, but it seems like a crapshoot on the pads fitting different backing plates. I’d rather avoid the expensive 3M backing plate and pads. Does anyone have any other backing plate and pad recommendations?

Lake Country Manufacturing is who I was looking at. They don't appear to sell a backing plate to go with their stuff, just a whole buffer.
