Milwaukee 2767-20 impact useless?

I have the Milwaukee 2767-20 I have not even used it on anything real yet, Just pulled lugs off my newer car.

I was at a part out (1999 f150). I tried to get the last lug nut off (it got the others with a little effort). The 2767 couldn't get it, despite it hitting pretty hard. But the part out owner came over with a battery milwaukee impact and pulled it off easy!

I should have asked him what he had but I was just so shocked and dismayed I didn't. And I was also running out of daylight with other parts yet to get.

Is there a more powerful milwaukee impact? I only had a 3.0 battery (90% charged) on it, was that the problem?

I had the same battery when i first got mine and it was a let down, i got a bigger battery a xc5.0 and it does much better, still not as good as youtube makes it out it be imo. My nitrocat seemed much stronger despite a lower raring.

They like bigger batteries for sure, but that impact should have had no issues on a lug nut.

A 5.0 lives almost 24/7 on mine and it has more ugga-duggas than my IR 2135ti MAX.

If I’m reading this right, you have the first gen of the Milwaukee High Torque 1/2” impact.
I do too.

If yours was in high speed, i would imagine it should take almost any lugs off, since its can take lugs off semi’s. I’d guess whatever the reason, its likely one lug might have been seized, corroded, cross threaded, who knows..

But yes - there are other models now that are a bit stronger.

And yes - the bigger the battery, the more power the impacts will have. If you just swap something like a 3.0, and a 9.0 battery on your gun - you will be able to even hear the increase in rpm the larger battery will produce. Even a 3.0 to 4.0 - you’ll notice a slight change..

Without knowing what the other guy had - it is all speculation as to the “why” his worked, and yours didn’t.

Also, I know people complain about the 3/8" stubby, but I pull lug nuts of 3/4 and one ton superdutys all the time with it.

Maybe I just got lucky with my Milwaukee tools?

Also, food for thought, I had to warranty my mid-torque because I was having issues with the power/drive control button selecting different power levels randomly. Maybe yours could be lying on the power level? I dunno.

Even with a 3.0Ah battery, an F150 lug shouldn't make the 2767 break a sweat. I'd try a different battery for starters.

If you keep having the problem, I'd contact Milwaukee and use the warranty.

Curious where this goes for you. I bought a 2767 for and have not put it thru something super high torque yet but tried zipping off some 140ft lb lugs and was dissapointed in number of hits before it spun off; didn't seem like it was 4x the power of my C3 impact. I was using a brand new 5.0 batt on fastest setting

I was hoping for increased torque on the initial hits, but perhaps it is no stronger until the impacts build up.

Perhaps the other guy had the same impact but was using a XC or better battery.

If I want the impacts to work properly, I do not use compact batteries on them, its 5.0 or better.

I dont think anyone has ever tested how much power loss there is when using a non XC or HD battery. I do know in one test I did a stubby wouldn't get a lug off with a compact battery but had no problem with an XC.

My 2767 has only failed to remove a few lugs ever but those were smashed on by a dealer tech and required a lot of strength with a breaker bar.

Test how well it's working with a fastener and a torque wrench to see what the issue is.

The Mid torque I have was bad out of the box, so I never really used it (and didn't understand all the praise they got on here). Three years later I actually checked it against a skid steer lug nut, and it was gutless. Sent it in for warranty, and now use it every day.
