Milwaukee 46" vs HF USG 44"

I see a lot of positive comments about the HF US General box, but having looked at both the Milwaukee 46" (older model 48-22-8520) seems far superior in construction, drawer smoothness, volume, and latching for only $50 more, and the same price if you use a 10% off coupon. What's going on? Am I missing something? Has anyone done a quantifiable comparison (steel gauge, caster load rating, slide bearing count, etc?)

The new Milwaukee 46" seems like unfair comparison since its retail is almost double the HF box, but to me at least, the old one just seems better.

After having owned the HF 44 for over 6 months, I am not too impressed by it. To me, it is just another cheap box option. All the drawers seem like they are just a bit too small for everything. I don't have a ton of tools but the top drawer was not big enough for all my sockets and socket accessories. My largest pry bar (36") does not fit neatly into any of the lower drawers. I have two 14 pc wrench sets on Ernst organizers and both of them will BARELY fit in one of the larger lower drawers.

Having said all that, I do have more tools than the average DIYer so the average DIYer may find it perfectly acceptable.

For near the same money, the Husky 52" works better for me.

I'm in the same boat. I see these rave reviews about US General boxes, then I see them in person and wonder if I'm the only one unimpressed. The steel seems average to flimsy, its my understanding that the slides aren't an easily replaced "standard" size, and the price seems a bit high compared to Husky and Milwaukee's offerings.

And that's assuming HF can get handle getting you a box without denting or dinging it, which seems to be troublesome for them..
