So I gave a long time customer a ride home the other day whose husband passed away last year. In talking to her she told me she had been sorting through so much stuff he had. She had already had two garage sales and of course let family and friends pick through it. I was optimistic there would be some cool stuff left when she invited me over tonight to take a look.

I have to say I have never seen that many old U.S.A made wrenches in one place. She must have had 2 or 3 milk crates full of S-K, Armstrong, Williams, Plomb, Craftsman, Proto, Husky and on and on. Couldn't piece together any full sets unfortunately but I included a pic of a few of them.

The real reason for this thread is the brand new Milwaukee 5081 1 HP 10" bench grinder she has. This thing is huge. I've tried to find some info on it as to age and value but am coming up empty. Info please if you can share some insight.

I am also including a pic of some NOS Lucky and Ace brand pipe taps from 3/4" to 2" and a Ridgid pipe tool set. Feel free to let me know any pertinent info on these also. I told her I would let her know what I found out. Thanks.

Back when, the Ridgid pipe threader set was at least a $2000 item. Today, only commercial guys do iron pipe and they have even larger truck-mounted threaders. My house still has iron pipe and I'd make an offer, but it would cost $100 to crate and ship.

Same with the pipe taps. They cost a ton new, but very little market to individuals.

I have seen those go for 40-50 bucks at auction to being listed for around 300-400 on ebay. I believe those were made from around the mid 70's to maybe the 90's. there was probably a rest that bolted onto that bottom inside bolt on the guard.

Here's a link to one at vintage machinery that has been restored and dolled up a bit.

I have 3 Milwaukee bench grinders...a 7", 8" and a 5081 1hp 10". That one is in great condition and it is hard to find one in that condition. For value I would say 4 or 5 hundred. I would pay $400 for it today if you are near central CA. I wish mine was in that perfect an original condition. That grinder will last several lifetimes.
