Milwaukee 5091 Bench Grinder...

Picked this up off of CL yesterday... Got it for $150. Did I pay too much? I think it was a good deal. 10 inch wheels, 1 HP motor, Made in USA and HEAVY lol...

Btw... How would you guys think I could mount this solid to a work bench?? As you can see it has NO pre drilled holes in the base for mounting

I really like those Milwaukee grinders. I own a 7" and an 8" I run wire wheels on. That was a good score for $150.

Just a thin plate covering the wires for the electrical underneath. There's 4 holes at each corner underneath... I think I can figure out a way now to mount it... We'll see how it goes...

They disappear from Craigslist really fast. The last one I bought, an 8" with a stand, I called within 5 minutes of the ad being listed. Drove the 20 minutes to the guys house and he said he already had a bunch of other calls. Gave him his $85 and away I went.

The 7" I picked up on Ebay for $125. Was barely used.

For an 8.5 amps unit you did great, no less, you got got a stand with it. New grinders are mostly foreign junk, rated at false horsepower.

Your grinder was made in 1996 by Wissota for Milwaukee. Wissota is still in business making ice skate sharpeners. They no longer make grinders, but they still sell parts from their stock.

Yes that's great info. Maybe I can pick up some lighted shields? It has the bulb connections on the back. I just need the shields and the bulbs

I am in the process of mounting one to a stand. I was going to put a heavier base plate and put 4 mounting holes with bolts through the base plate, and tack weld the mounting bolts so they don't turn. I wonder what their thinking was for mounting this? I guess they just figured it to set on a work bench?

Regarding the serial #... The "W" means it was made by Wissota, The next digit might be the month of manufacture, I forget...The last two digits are the year of manufacture.

I picked up this same grinder off CL recently, but need wheels for it. The arbor size on this is 3/4", but in my search for 10" wheels the arbor is usually 1". Can anyone give me a lead or source for finding 10" wheels with 3/4" arbor? Or is this going to be a tough find?

They make bushings to accomplish this. Grainger sells them.

Thanks Mike. I did a search here after posting this & someone mentioned the PFERD site for wheels. I checked it out & saw they had bushings that would work.

I think your tool rest arms are mounted backwards. I have never seen them mounted that way. Very Nice Grinder!!! I am on the lookout for one that size.
