I use one. I've had it for several months now.
I paid full price when they first came out earlier this year.
It's okay. I'm sort of neutral about it.
Heavy, yeah, it's a pig when you have tools, laptop and assorted other stuff you need on a daily basis. But in fairness, some of that is on the user as he controls what goes in there.
The base is bulky and will not compress, but if you toss it between the seats of a van or truck, it stays where you put it and doesn't topple over, which is a very good thing.
I do not like the individual pocket-type sleeves. If all I used were 12" long screwdrivers they would be awesome. As I do not, standard length tools like screwdrivers or 4" or 6" adjustables fall to the bottom and then you need to fish them out of the pockets. That's a PITA.
The elastic sleeves inside don't hold squat. Whatever you put there will be falling down into the pockets 10 miles on down the road. I ended up putting one leg of a pliers in each. Otherwise they are all but useless for me.
The front flap "pocket" is great for the latest issue of HF's flyer or the day's paper, but anything of value will fall out and get lost. Why they didn't make it a zipper compartment is just stupid. A place to go with Cat5 cables or other smaller computer stuff would have been nice. What a waste of space.
The laptop portion is okay. If your thing is armor plating designed to withstand an A10 attack or you need Pelican-style padding, you will be disappointed. My needs don't require either of those so for me it's great. Excessive padding and/or armor brings on bulk and weight, this bag needs neither of those.
It is well made. It rides okay on the back. I usually sling it over a shoulder going from truck to shop or truck to jobsite. If my hands are full I will use both straps.
All in all, I would be happier if I paid $60 as opposed to $100.
I looked hard at the Klein bags but opted for this one. Nobody else made something comparable. It isn't price for me as much as the tool doing what I want it to do.
I don't think I would buy this bag again knowing what I know now.
Quality is there, price doesn't matter for me, it's lack of engineering on some things that would cause me to rate it 6 out of 10.
I also have their pouch. I don't know the model number but it now sells for $40. That I like a lot. It's an in between size and I like how it stands on it's own when I set it down. The strap is rough on the neck however and I have a nice mark by the end of the day.
Zoro sells a pouch for $26 by CLC that is a very close copy. I bought one and like it very much. A little bigger but not obnoxious.

Thanks for posting this! I've been eyeing it since it came out, but couldn't justify the price. I stopped by HD to pick one up today.
Unlike most of you I don't plan on using this for tools. I take my desktop computer with me when I visit friends on weekends. I plan on using this bag to carry my laptop and all accessories for my desktop (mouse, mouse pad, keyboard, headset, cables, etc.) The pockets lay out well for this and I'm hoping the keyboard will fit in the front open area. It's the only part that I am unsure about.

but I just don't see the point in having a backpack for tools.

I work in a school and the our HVAC tech uses a backpack. Said he likes it since he needs to climb up ladders a lot to get to the roof-top units and carry-all won't work. Makes sense.

where did you come up with front compartment being made "specifically" for fish tape? ive never seen that mentioned anywhere. its listed as "front bulk pocket that allows for storage of large and odd shaped items" promo pictures include things like a/c gauges, air hoses w/nail guns , and extension cords.
there are actually a few different brands making tool storage backpacks. for SOME people it makes alot of sense, others not so much.. if your up and down ladders all day, carrying tools can be a headache, and tool belts are only good while your wearing them. a big advantage of a backpack is that they free up both your hands, and it can be quickly dumped to loose the weight or set up and get tools.
i can only guess that the front pouch is to help try to accommodate things that you couldnt normally keep in a smaller portable box or pouch, so they tried to make it as adjustable as possible. better extension cords and air hoses be in the pack then wrapped around your shoulders..

Yes, but I keep things on the floor of the pack and in front of the pockets. Laser measure, lube can, Milwaukee impact bit set, and similar small stuff. I have to move things to go fishing. That's a pita to me.
I think they could have done it a little better.
As was mentioned by another poster, a backpack keeps my hands free. Or, if I have to carry a ladder I still have a free hand to open doors. That's nice when it's raining or bitter cold as I can move quicker and don't have to set things down on wet surfaces. Also a lot nicer with the weight on the back when walking long distances or several flights of steps.
It also never fails that the phone is going to ring when your hands are full.
I don't hate this backpack, I just don't think it's right for me and what I need it to do. It does have some good qualities. It's worth $60, especially considering what similar packs cost.

Just picked one up to replace my AWP tote. All you have to do is pick this up and tell it's worth $60. At $100 I'm not so sure, but $60 is a great price.
the tag says "front bulk pocket" and underneath it says "holds full sized fish tapes" as an EXAMPLE of what you CAN use it for.... just like it says "laptop storage" and then says "holds UP to 15.6(?) laptops". every feature of the bag is outlined and then its follwed by an example of what it CAN be used for - some give multiple examples. the fishtape thing is a description of what it CAN be used for.. it doesn't say anywhere - font pocket designed specefically for fish tapes. ive never seen a 6 inch wide handheld fish tape..
