I have a question were are you guys getting and the best place to get M 18 Milwaukee batteries I just had a 5.0 go on me I was putting my snow blower back together and was useing my 3/8 driver and it just stoped I pushed the button on the battery pack and I had one bar that was blinking I put it on a charger and it goes right to green I took it off and it still blinking so my guess it has bit the dust
I think that one is about 20 years old I looked on Amazon and man there are a ton of counterfeit batteries cheep but I not going there so we’re is the best place to go o thinking maybe Home Depot they are pricey but at lest they are Milwaukee 🤔

check the voltage with a multimeter, it might just under the threshold for the charger. Sometimes the regular charger charges batteries that the rapid chargers rejects.

Also the trick to buying batteries is to buy them in packages if you are interested in other tools. Checkout the Milwaukee Deal Thread here:

I bought my last 12.0 on Amazon. Just watch who the seller is and read the reviews. It's pretty easy to find a genuine Milwaukee battery, as I did.

A package deal as Odd-job said is another great way to get a new battery.

Keep an eye on Home Depot's daily specials.
And also watch Northern Tool's sales, as you can always stack a $20-off-$100 coupon on the sale price.

There are videos online where a battery will be wired to 12 volt I think for a second or two to shock it and then it magically comes back to life again and will accept a full charge. fact or fiction.

Northern Tool delivered some to me for less than Home Depot had on the sticker.

I get them through my plumbing supplier. $200 for two 5.0 batteries is about as good as I've seen.

I fear counterfeit junk on Amazon

Maybe 10 years ago.

$250 for the two pack or $150 individually is about the going rate.

You need to wait for the sales or special deals and stock up. I dont think i've ever bought a tool battery at retail price.

The 6.0 are cheaper than the 5.0 currently. Screenshot_20250111_083355_Chrome.jpg

The 8.0 were cheap if you needed/wanted a specific tool
These (and others) were 199 on black friday

Twenty years on a power tool battery is fantastic. Time to recycle the old battery
I’ve purchased Milwaukee batteries from Home Depot when they have a daily special or during holiday sales. Best price now for 5AH is $125
Please don’t try to jump start a power tool battery via YouTube lithium batteries go boom and runaway fires 🔥

Only one choice: FORGED in whatever flavor you prefer 6.0, 8.0 or 12.0. Don't go backwards with respect to battery technology. Likely, the FORGE series will be obsolete in 3 years so why go back to the early 2000's for a "new battery" with 20 year old technology. This is one of my gripes with Makita still using the same old ****. Technology moves on.

They are a bit large/heavy for the drills and impact drivers.

And I keep an eye on the Forge on sale I hate all the counterfeits out there I just went though all this nonsense with my JNC air. When I first bought it years ago
It never worked. I opened it up one day and found it did not have a jnc battery just some counterfeit I order a jnc 105 and it lasted 9 years last month looking for a battery and it cost more the battery then a brand new jnc with the update charging system and that what I did BUT what I. Found was a ton of counterfeit batteries and a ton of reviews of just how bad they were What I see is companies like Milwaukee and JNC need to work on the prices of there batteries as the counterfeit make there products look bad

But their high prices make their stock look great. If you want to see overpriced batteries go with the most overpriced - Makita. I started an entire discussion about those thieves.

Never understood it. Makita battery in London is $90. Home Depot wants $157.

lol, Good luck getting the battery with that circular saw. Mine has never shown since 12-2. All depends on who you talk to at HD and i believe its the way the add reads. It doesn't say free gift of a battery and adds it to the order, it reads tool only with a battery. i think whoever packs the order reads it as tool only and doesn't send the battery.

You got screwed, I'd call HD.

These (and some others) were all ordered between Thanksgiving and December 17th, no issues with mutiple orders.

Project Farm did a good video on the counterfeit and generic tool batteries; IMO, they were both surprisingly bad in comparison to the OE batteries. You may be saving 30%, whatever, on price, but it seemed you were losing an equivalent amount of performance- so it didn't seem like there was any savings overall. And you're also maybe increasing the risk of burning your house down during charging vs an OE battery.

I don't have any Makita cordless tools, so I wasn't aware their batteries were so expensive. I guess they gave up years ago trying to compete with DeWalt and Milwaukee cordless tools in the US.

Almost all cordless power tools rely on the tool itself to cut off power to the battery in the event of an overcurrent or overdraw.

IMO avoid using counterfeit or aftermarket batteries, and I wouldn't recommend using an adapter either. The same principle applies to people who complain about fuel prices in their car. If you don't want the long-term cost of ownership, you should have bought something different.

Yep. We had this discussion a few years ago and someone said you couldn't overcharge something like an 18650 cell and start a fire. Within two weeks there was an article in a local paper where a guy's dog woke him up in the middle of the night when a fire started on his 18650 batteries being charged in the living room. And before that, the house across the street from my now ex-GF burned down from charging one of those kid's battery mini cars on the front porch. She woke up in the middle of the nite for some reason and saw that her room was all lit up with orange light, and was like, WTF? The sun doesn't rise in the north, and it's 3AM... She looked out the window and then ran over to wake them all up and help get them out. Those people were evidently "self-insured" as I was over there for the holidays and the house still hasn't been rebuilt.

Maybe I'm being overly paranoid, but I trust an OE like DeWalt or Milwaukee to source better quality cells than some generic brand that may disappear tomorrow, or a counterfeit that doesn't even "exist". This doesn't mean that you can't have an issue with an OE battery, but I think the chances are much lower.

I bought that saw deal on the Black's Friday sale.

Saw from Wasilla store and battery from the ghetto Homes Depot by the Northway Mall and trailer park. Dog came in with me, was worried someone would steal him!

I've been to that one, I would probably bring my dog in for protection as well as keeping him from being stolen.

The list price for a Makita 5ah and a Milwaukee 5ah are both around $160. Just like was mentioned in your Makita battery rant thread. Nobody that doesn't just have money to burn would buy either one by itself and not on sale. I paid around $50 each for the 8 or so of both brands that I have as part of tool/charger bundles.

You want to talk about expensive, price out some Hilti batteries. My brother uses Hilti tools and the 36v 5ah batteries are around $350 list.

I'm into flashlights and vaping and we have been running individual 18650's for almost 20 years now. There are good brands and shiite brands. Samsungs, sonys are the best and that's what are in OEM tool batteries. Please don't try to save a few bucks on the counterfeits!

The 5 y/o Milwaukee branded battery performed better than all 3 of the cheena knock-offs.....
