When I bought my first house (current house) my father in law bought me a 9 tool RYOBI 18V cordless set. Over the years I have added a lithium set to that and a few loose tools (Jigsaw, Vacuum, Grinder).

I've generally bee happy with them, but after using his Rigid kit, wish I had upgraded before adding what I have.

Fast forward to Early August this year:

Somebody broke into my garage and stole my (6) batteries, (2) chargers and my drill and driver. Somehow they ignored my Motorcycle and USG tool chest. Really I figure I got off pretty lucky.

The up side is that my insurance company is paying for replacements, and the payout is enough to pick up an alternative multi tool pack from another brand. I won't have 6 batteries, or the extra tools that I really didn't use much. But the better more powerful tools would be worth it.

I'm looking at the 6 tool pack, that Milwaukee has and figure that replacing the tools I actually use will cost me minimal further investment.

My question is should I wait for the FUEL set? The individual tools are available now, but I haven't seen anything about the combo packs.

Has anyone seen release dates?

Any Ideas how the prices will Compare?

It's starting to be a real pain in the *** not having any of my powertools.

Once I get this figured out I just need to find somebody that wants so Ryobi tools.

If you're waiting for something like a drill/impact/recip saw/grinder/circ saw/whatever kit with all Fuel stuff, I don't think I'd hold my breath on that. I kinda shudder to think what it would cost, and I think they know a lot of people would feel like that. Probably close to a grand street price for 4 tools if I had to guess.

All my Milwaukee stuff is Fuel except my M12 Hackzall, and I'm really happy with all of it. I luckily held off on buying a grinder and Sawzall and I'm planning on buying the Fuel ones when they're available. I had a Makita recip/grinder/circ saw before, and honestly I don't see the point unless you use them a bunch and can keep several packs... they all killed batteries really fast. If you're just working around the house once in a while, the smart money is probably in just dealing with cords on those. Or go big and buy the Fuel versions, at least they'll have good power and runtime, hopefully.

The Fuel stuff should be available within a month or so I think, and all the bare tools are in the $200 range.

Pro = fuel brushless

Save your money bro. You don't need the fuel.

I have some regular 18v milwaukee and it works fine for my uses. The only "fuel" one i have is an 18v impact driver. Only reason I bought it was the deal the factory guy was offering at HD the day I was there was too good to pass up (3 free extra XC batteries). That and it was a shiny new tool lol. The fuel version definitely beats the regular 18v one i have but for homeowner use, it is definitely overkill.
