Let me know what you guys think about this Milwaukee heat gun at $89 for plumbing (frozen pipe) issues. It has two temps: 570F/1000F. I'm thinking the 570F setting would work for PVC pipe; 1000F for steel/copper.

I'm a newbie DIY plumber, my current "heat gun" is my wife's lavender blow-dryer.

I have two of the older German-made ones (not sure if these are the same or not) and like them very much.

this kit is also worth buying:

We use that same Milwaukee at the shop and they hold up very well.

several people used to borrow mine when I was working at the repair station. Have had it since 2006 - I like the above kit for deflecting heat which I don't have - I do have a Weller butane soldering iron that has those attachments in miniature, figured out the curved deflector by accident really, its purpose is for shrink tubing.

My heat gun gets hot, we used it for shrink tubing on wiring. It is possible to break a solder joint if your not careful, don't ask me how I know this.

I have an old Milwaukee heat gun and its been fine no issues. I don't know about using it for frozen pipes though. I have used my heat gun to soften PVC and and to form it so it will definitely get too hot for a pressurized pipe. I would think it would blow out from the pressure.

I've used the one you pictured to thaw out frozen txv's on a refrigeration system. Works as expected.

I've got an Eddy heat gun at home that goes up to 750° F. Made in the USA.
