Milwaukee Cordless 1/2" Impact Gun?

How does the Milwaukee cordless 1/2" impact gun compare with other cordless impacts? Looks like it has around 325lb-ft of torque, which is slightly higher than the current 18v DeWalt impact I currently own (rated at 300lb-ft).

Anyone running this impact, and what are your thoughts?

I have a v28 impact. It is a beast in power and size. No need to hit the gym after using it. They newer ones look smaller and lighter then mine. Personally I like my SO way better then the my Milwaukee.

My dad has the 2662, rated at 450 ft-lbs. We use it all the time for lugnuts and have used it on a few other fasteners. Works fine, and the XC battery lasts forever on a single charge.

When I was in the market for 1/2" cordless I looked at a lot of them. I made a list of which ones would be the best for me. (in order)

IR 20V 1/2" @ 780 ft. lb (1100 ft. lb. bolt breakaway)
Snap-On 18V CT6850 @ 400 ft. lb. (650 ft. lb. bolt breakaway)
Milwaukee High torque 1/2" 18V @ 450 ft. lb
Makita High torque 1/2" @ 325 ft. lb.


If you're set at buying Milwaukee then wait for their new Fuel series that have 3/8 and 1/2 inch impacts. http://www.milwaukeetool.com/fuel/products/drivers.html (I was informed about these by someone on this forum)

I bought the IR simply because of its specs.

I have the milwaukee m18 1/2 impact and it does everything I want it to. It takes everything off that isn't rusted or siezed usually if it won't undo something and I switch it air impact it is still laboured to remove. I have the matco 1769a for an air impact. I bought the Milwaukee because of the amount of tools in the m18 series.

You're probably looking at the Milwaukee V28, which I think is kind of crappy. The M18 impact (full size) is better in every way. I use to have the M18 and it's about as powerful as my Snap On gun. The Dewalt impact does not even compare.

It looks like those two are using the same motor as the 1/4" hex drive that is already out. That tops out at 133 ftp-lbs, but I suspect that is being limited by the small drive shank at that point, so perhaps the 3/8" or 1/2" drive will deliver some more torque than that.

I love my 18v milwaukee, 450lbs of torque. Not too many fasterners you cant undo, good bettery life, good warrenty, its been a great tool

i have been looking to get the Milwaukee 2663-20 M18 impact gun t ogo with my other m18 tools. ALthough i do have a v28 impact wrench set i got cheap off of cl a while back. the batteries i dont think are the best of shape. Anybody hink i could get $100.00- $150.00 for it on cl?

I have the 2663-20, it works good but I haven't put it to a real hard test, let's say 1ton lug nuts.

I have theMilwaukee v28 - It's pretty good for general DIY work - I've used it a ton on lug nuts and other general repairs - it's not as strong as my IR 1/2 pneumatic gun, but it doesn't really need to be most of the time.

To the guy above who says the V28 is junk and the M18 is better - Last I looked they were identical. Perhaps they redesigned the M18 recently. However I know the V28 isn't junk - Most all of the V28 tools are the best cordless tools I've ever used.

Ive got the 3/8 drive M18 that is great. Light mechanical and interior work. Great in the junkyard bag too.

the V28/M28 impact wrench and the M18 impact wrench are two totally different powertools.
Indy, you are thinking of the old and crusty V18 impact wrench probably lol

My V28 impact wrench barely takes off my lug nuts torqued at 140ft/lbs on my pickup truck.

The v28 is a piece of ****. It won't loosten a lug nut torqued to 125 ft lbs. and it's huge. A turd in every way. So was the warranty one that it was replaced with. I don't know anything about the 18 volt . hopefully they learned from their mistake.

The M18 is worlds better than the V28 in almost every way. More power, lighter, smaller, and the lithium does not **** out like the V28.

Its a beast! I bought the set a couple months ago and haven't looked back since. Everyone on my side of the shop is always wanting to use it. Batteries last about 2 days of normal use and charge pretty quick. My dad traded in his 2 month old snap on 1/2 for the Milwaukee and said its stronger/better but those are his words and not mine as ive never put the snap on 1/2 to work.

I have the M18 450 ft/lb impact and it takes off the lug nuts of my 3/4 ton Silverado without any problems at all.
The new M18 fuel compact impacts are going to be rated around 200 ft/lbs of torque according to everything I have seen about them.

Ive used Snap-On's impact and it is very nice. I have a Milwaukee at work and it rips, awesome batteries! I think its the best for the $$$, better than the dewalt we use on the race car.
