anyone owned both and can attest to the difference between run time and aggressiveness of the two? obviously the fuel is going to have some advantages, but how big are we talking? i was looking at how worth it it will be to use cordless tools at work and home. the grinder has always caught my eye, but if the run time isn't too great, i don't want to dedicate a couple of batteries just to the tool itself just to get good use out of it when i can have an extension cord handy for the corded version which is a quarter the cost.

I have the regular one and have used it for about 2 years I think. It is a great tool and the run time is acceptable and the power is good. It isn't as powerful as a plug in Bosch but usable. I just got the Fuel this week and still have the old one so a comparison will be coming soon. I will try to post back when I do but it might be a week or so for it.

How much do you think you will use it continuously?

a fair bit. as much as it could take, i spent about 3 hours grinding welds the other day, as long as the batteries can last long enough to make it a round robin with a pack on the charger, i don't see an issue.

Shoot, my Fuel grinder wouldn't even do that with just 2 batteries, if you're using it more than half the time. It's good for about 15 minutes with a 4.0XC pack, if you're using it say 80% of the time. Heavy use and no downtime, you probably want 4 batteries, you might squeak by with 3.

Never had a Milwaukee brushed one, but I had a Makita. It was decent for quick cleanup or cutting, but pushing the battery hard would get you maybe 5 useful minutes. Spinning 10k rpm and having any *** behind it is going to **** down some power, fast, especially with brushes. After maybe 2-3 minutes, it got reeeeeeeeaaaaaal easy to trip the overload protection on it, you couldn't really put any pressure on the disc.

I've not used the Fuel but given the cost it doesn't make sense for use in a shop or garage. I'm a HUGE cordless fan and want a Fuel but I won't plan on it being my primary shop grinder but rather more for field use.

I have the M28 and run time is not great, but its handy on jobsites for quick stuff. Whenever I think I want to use it in the shop I have the wrong wheel on it anyhow, so I could swap the wheel or grab an extension cord = no time savings for cordless.

I have the brush m18 and it can **** batteries way faster then charge them. Good for short quick cleanup. Intermittent use would be reccomendation. I used mine for an axle swap on my trailer and cutting the bolts burned them up fairly quick. Great for remote places where power isn't available or a pain.

I have an older V28 version, I also have a standard M18 version. I would be interested in the fuel version just to find out how well it works. I actually do not like the M18 version, it doesn't seem rugged like my V28. I have had the V28 for about 9 years and it is still a great tool. I will say that if you are planning on continuos usage, you will kill the tool. They get hot, so you will need to give them a break. I have never really timed the usage I get out of either of them, but I feel V28 works circles around the M18. That being said, the M18 is still a nice tool and I am sure that the fuel is a great improvement (based on my other fuel tools). I want an M28 version that has the FUEL brushless motor.
