Milwaukee also made a 3570 version that had a V-jaw chain vise clamp for drilling pipe. I've never used one so I don't know how high quality they were. I doubt you would have a problem drilling 1/2" or 5/8" holes with one that had a Milwaukee drill mounted. The pipe drilling version was likely designed for drilling larger holes that.

Jason280, did you grab that one?

I just got one today a 3550. Just curious about these things. I read online they were like $300 new! That's crazy.

Oh yea. Early nineties. Discontinued for a while.

I was just commenting that $300 seemed high. Especially in 25 year ago money.

Lots of milwaukee's accessories are absurdly priced IMHO (ex. their portable bandsaw table) for what they are. I think drill stands took a big back seat when mag drill became cheaper and better. Black and decker, porter cable, etc all the big names in power tools used to offer a drill stand for 1/2" drills. Milwaukee still offers the stand in a larger version for true core drilling and large pipe drilling IIRC.

They work pretty good, but are definitely for field work, where accuracy and alignment is not super critical.
