Hey guys, I just had to send my 3/8" M12 ratchet to Milwaukee for repairs and I wanted to let you guys know how easy it was.
My ratchet had motor issues; the motor was only running at about half speed and it smelled like the brushes were burning with no load. Sometimes the motor wouldn't start and the battery lights would just flash. I've had it about a year and a half and I've used it pretty much every day.
I was kind of concerned that Milwaukee wouldn't warranty it for a couple of reasons:
-I only had an Amazon invoice for proof of purchase
-The serial number wasn't legible; hasn't been for 6 months.
-This thing looked beat (grips missing, battle scars everywhere)
I could definitely see how they could deny my warranty claim, either for evidence of abuse or because I didn't buy it from an authorized distributor. I called Milwaukee customer service and asked them about the proof of purchase. They said it was up to the management in warranty claims and told me to send it in and they could evaluate it and let me know.
I sent it in via their E-service repair last Tuesday. I went on Milwaukee's website, printed out a Fedex shipping label and shipped it to them. I didn't hear anything from them until yesterday, when Fedex showed up with a Milwaukee box containing a brand new ratchet.
It couldn't have been any easier to do. I got a brand new ratchet and I didn't even have to pay for shipping. I was a Milwaukee fan before this but now I really am. Figured you guys would want to know how good the 5 year warranty really is.
