I missed the new release buying opportunities for the Forge batteries last year. I don’t specifically need more m18 batteries but I was intrigued by the pouch cell design in the 6.0. IIRC, the 8.0 and 12.0 were tabless cells.

I’m still seeing bogo deals on the two larger batteries at Home Depot where I buy most of my Milwaukee tools but there seems to be nothing on the 6.0. Are they so good that Milwaukee is hiding them? Did they not live up to expectations? Mostly just curious but I still am waiting on a sale to give them a go.

You're right Milwaukee still makes them but the marketing for them is very low-key. I've got four of them and see nothing wrong with them but it is surprising how something that was the "new hotness" is now relegated as the English say about losing soccer teams.

Today Home Depot has the 6.0 Forge for sale at $149. I think I’m going to try one just because I still want to see if they’ll make all my dreams come true.

For me $25 per AH is too much. I have 2 Forge 12AH and 2 Forge 8AH. Bought them on sale and paid $15 per AH or maybe slightly less. Wait for a sale. They are better. I notice particularly with my pack out M18 vacuum box.

I can still get the two bigger forge batteries for $15 per ah, floating to a bit cheaper. I just want the smaller one for my grinder and they don’t seem to get much cheaper.

The Forge are lighter so the 8ah won’t tire you with the grinder but it is still bulky if that is an issue.

I bought a bunch of tools that came with a free 8ah forge and kept the batteries and gave the tools away for Christmas. Did the same last year with the double packs of the 6Ah. The 8ah forge are about the same size as the 6ah HD.

I stopped by the local HD tonight and it looks like the 6.0 forge batteries have been gathering dust on the bottom shelf for quite a while. The 149 price looks like it’s just the start. Maybe they’ll get cheap.

The only time I've seen a deal is when they were bundled with a tool like a grinder.

But that was before the tabless 8.0 & 12.0 came out.

I had high hopes that the pouch cell was the next step in battery evolution. I missed the roll out sales on the 6.0 and it looks like I might have to settle for the close out sale.
