I just bought a Milwaukee 3/4 fuel impact yesterday. Spun off a 1 1/2 nut of a trailer hitch, that was impressive. I look forward to putting it thru its paces at work next week.

It should be crazy strong. I take lug nuts of our motor coaches at work with a 2662-20 ,1/2" Milwaukee. It's impressive, even more so for the low price. I bought a new 2663-20 for 125 bucks off ebay. They look to me to be well made tools ,after taking them apart and looking at them.

Back when I was looking for info on cordless impacts I read the specs on the 3/4" models just to get a comparison and couldn't understand how the 3/4" Milwaukee is rated at 1200 ft lbs nut busting, but so is the 1/2" Dewalt DCF899. Generally pneumatic 3/4" impacts that have same specs as 1/2" models are stronger because of the vanes, but there aren't any in this case. So are the 3/4" models more powerful or just more robust?

Nice tool! Right now I'm happy with my original 2763 purchase but if they eventually come out with any Gen2 High Torque impacts, a 3/4 drive model may be my next addition.

I have an older d ewalt 18 volt works great.thought it was all i needed till my nephew brought his cobra over and we were changing rear wheel studs to fit his drag radials.the new studs were larger and the forums said to freeze them.i thought that was stupid at first til i tried pulling one on only to strip the lug nut.so i put in freezer for few hours bought new nuts.tried again no luck so i tried with my ir 2235 and it would almost pull them on but strip the nuts.so my nephew borrowed m18 fuel 1/2 impact rated 1100 in reverse 700 forward pulled ever one on.one battery! So i bought one! Cant imagine how well a 3/4 performs.

I believe all that is different is the anvil, 1/2 to 3/4 and the mode power is different. The 2764 (3/4 drive) I bought is rated at 375ftlbs mode one, fwd and 750 fwd mode two. 1200 reverse. Compared to the 1/2 model (2763). 100ftlbs mode 1 and 700ft lbs mode two. 1100ftlbs reverse.

I did a little testing this afternoon.
I couldn't get over 150ft lbs in mode 1. Grade 8 bolt locked in my big Record vise.. 5/8 thread 15/16 head/socket. 3/4 impact 15/16 socket on the gun. I tried on a wheel stud as well (13/16 socket, not sure of thread size?) same results with 3/4 to 1/2 adapter 1/2 socket? Reverse seemed the same, it would not back it off either. I had to switch to mode two, which is much much more powerful.
In mode two it was drastically different. I didn't want to snap the wheel stud and only tried it on 5/8 bolt. Accordingly, my torque wrench maxed out at 250ftlbs, so I couldn't measure how much it applied at max, but it was tight enough for that size bolt.

It could be the software is set for the 1/2 version, as these new guns are rather advanced?

We've had them for about a year at work now. Most pits and quarries have a few on hand and each of us mechanics got one also. I'm impressed at their power but we have also torn quite a few up and really destroyed one or two beyond repair. It's a pretty heavily used item especially when your not want ting to string out your air lines up onto a plant or down into a shaft or bin pit. I just wish that Dewalt would come out with something similar so that I could have battery continuity with my other tools.

So if I put my Dewalt dcf899 with a 1-1/2" socket vs the 3/4" Milwaukee with 1-1/2" socket, will the Milwaukee remove the bolt quicker/easier?

Interesting experiences.

Maybe you need a larger bolt/thread yet?

I wonder if the 5/8 bolt was the size also used to achieve the 375 ft lb rating, I know Real Tools made that video on achieving the max torque using the 5/8 coarse thread bolt/nut combo with a 2763 in mode #1 after user feedback said it couldn't and he contacted Milwaukee for their advice.

I've tried a few torque tests myself with several different sized bolt nut combos like 1/2, 3/8 etc. after watching his video and I also found max tightening torque seemed quite low using mode 1. It was really easy to break the assembly loose even with just a hand wrench the smaller the bolt got. :dunno:

I was curious too about the true rpm in mode 1 as visually it seems to turn so slow but I checked that with a digital tachometer (I have UNI-T 370) and the mode 1 speed of my 2763 was actually slightly over the stated 100rpm with a full charged 4.0 battery. I also ran a few checks on max rpm of my other Milwaukee cordless tools drill and driver. They make claims to no loss of power with brushless tools as they wear but there is a slight RPM drop as the battery runs down.

I've got the 2764 also. Bought it refurb from CPO cheap. No complaints. Also easier to adapt up to 1" drive which I had to do recently.

There's a video on YouTube by real tool reviews he tests all 3 models sizes with a torque testing machine he has alot of tool reviews he's the only one on there I like he has a ton of videos on all brands you can think of check it out he said only difference in 3/4 and 1/2 one is the anvil the 3/4 one got beat by 1/2 I think he only tested the short anvil one but they make a long anvil version he said there's no difference. Check it out real tool reviews
