I've always been a twist bit guy, but feel like I get the **** kicked out of me and my drill press when drilling holes over 1/2 inch in thicker steel. Annular cutters costing 60 bucks a piece are out of the question. So now I'm using these Milwaukee carbide Hole Dozers and am very pleased! They're cheap at about 12 bucks, and come in many smaller metric and standard sizes like 5/8ths, 3/4, 7/8ths and even 18mm on up. They drill great holes and I've gotten 20 or so holes in 3/8 plate before they wear out.
