Milwaukee Hydraulics Model 20 Jack

I picked this jack up over the weekend. It looks quite rough, but to my surprise, it pumps up. It does not have the handle so it took me some figuring as to how to get it to release. From what I've seen in my research, there is a threaded rod at the end of the handle that somehow engages a valve connected to a plate. The plate pulls outward to release, but I can't figure out how it would work. I've seen the schematic, but I'm still lost. Can anyone explain how the release mechanism is supposed to work on this jack? I'm certain this jack has been rebuilt in the past that the hydraulic unit was painted silver at some point. It looks like as things broke, the just got discarded. I don't know how old this particular unit is, but it looks like they were still making some variant up to recently or possibly currently.

I’m not exactly sure what you’re asking, but if you have the schematic, the key to release is part #16 called “release needle” that opens to allow oil to go back to the reservoir. IMHO, jacks with release needle valves lower more smoothly and with more control than jacks with a ball valve. Thank you! I don't know how I missed that thread. I looked into the handle receiver on mine and see the threads for part #35, the release screw. It looks like it contacts the release lever, #10. I'm presuming that the threads are reverse threads since the manual says turing CCW releases the jack. I would think turning the handle drives the screw in and contacts the release lever. My needle is there and works, but my release lever is broken and the handle assembly is missing altogether. Thanks again.

I had this years ago until it was stolen with out the handle. Can’t remember much. But I have a hydraulic repair shop and frequently repair Milwaukee Hydraulics tie rod cylinders, so maybe they can help you.
