This shot appeared in my newsfeed today.

Looks like an M28 powering the tools.

Does anyone have any info?

I know there are plenty of firefighters around here...

Is that from FDIC? Sounds like a good deal. I have used battery Holmotros, and they work fairly well.

There's someone out there that makes a battery powered hydraulic spreader that looks AWESOME (hydraulics built into the unit, no hoses). It's huge, but made of unobtanium, so it's ultra light weight.

This is at the T-N-T Rescue Tools booth at FDIC. (FDIC is a huge firefighter convention and training in Indianapolis). As iroc said, Holmatro and Hurst both have self-contained battery powered hydraulic rescue tools ("Jaws of Life"). This is T-N-T's entry. Here is there website.

These tools peaked my interest because it's the first rescue series I've seen with a battery I can get at a hardware store.

The DeWalt 36V stuff is common with rescue companies in my area, but I don't know that DeWalt would ever venture into spreaders and the like.

This could be great for departments with very limited funding that can't afford batteries exclusive to the public safety market.

The Holmatro tools that my department carries use the Dewalt 24v batteries that were readily available at the time the tools were purchased. We can interchange them with the Dewalt recip saws that we also carry.

I love the fact that other companies are using the M28 platform, I really think Milwaukee should be expanding it more. I know the M18 is nice, but every time I use one of my M28 tools, it makes me hate my M18 versions a little more.

Milwaukee/AEG has a history of supplying motors to other manufacturers. Some of their motors are used by German tool manufacturers who don't manufacture their own motors. Rothenberger, the German pipe tool manufacturer, used Milwaukee cordless batteries for some tool models. Fromm, a company that makes steel strapping tools for packaging also has used cordless Milwaukee/AEG for some of their tools.

Unfortunately, some of the companies who used motors or battery systems from other companies have a habit of switching from one manufacturer to another, so the battery systems don't always stay consistent.
