EDIT: Milwaukee's New M12 Tools Have Been Announced! (via TG)

Over on ToolGuyd, I talked over a few tools that I predict will be released in coming months.

Two of the tools I am almost sure they must be working on right now - an upgrade to their cordless screwdriver, and a cordless multi-tool. If they're not working on releasing these tools anytime soon, they should be!

M12 Predictions Via ToolGuyd

What are your predictions? What type of compact cordless do you think Milwaukee will churn out next?

I saw some of the M12 in HD this morning. Wasn't near as impressed as I'd hope to be.

Since they've also got a pretty good automotive M12 lineup there's a few additions they might introduce to round it out. 1/4" square impact. That'd be an easy, one part, change. 1/4" and/or 3/8" ratchets. Cut off tool and/or die grinder. That and a 150 ft/lb 3/8" impact.

Though there really ain't no telling what they'll do next. Some of the M12 stuff they've already brought out is bizzare. Regular clamp meters and temp guns aren't exactly hard on batteries.

i have some m12 stuff, and love all of it.

although, the clamp meter as i am an electro mechanic, is worthless to me. my fluke has been on the same 9v since 2 years ago when i changed it after 4 years of use. i use it a lot too.

so a rechargable meter is nothing special to me. clamp meter or multi meter, still no need.

By any chance did you pick the radio from that Home Depot clearance sale earlier in the year?

I'm not starting to kick myself for not getting in on that combo.

You can't forget about the M12 Heated Jacket. Batteries should last 4-8 hours depending on the heat setting. Should be out in Sept-Oct time frame and go for about $100. In the pic below the got the temp up to 144 in the jacket when used with a shell.

the hackzall is awesome too, i use it a lot, and is great for the cuts you need without having the weight of the large sabre saw.

perfect for tight areas.

Searching about the Hackzall and came up w this thread. Noticed it's $99 at Home Depot right now for the kit. Amazon wants $145. First time I've ever seen Depot's price beat Amazon on Milwaukee cordless stuff.

I take that back! There's the 2420-22 and 2420-21. The latter is what Depot has, and only includes one battery. Amazon's price is the same, $99, on this.

Well I hope my issue is isolated but I purchased the m12 inspection camera kit with the free driver and it has seen VERY little use. The batteries are showing 3 out of 4 bars and work fine but you put either on the charger and they flash both lights (bad battery). I'm scrambling to find my proof of purchase as they are still under warranty. Looks like it's going to be a serious PITA to get warranty service because of the location of the nearest warranty center.

I love my m18 stuff but I'm very leery of purchasing any more m12. Anyone else have any m12 battery or charger issues???

Don't return it!!!!! Make sure you push the battery fully down into the charger! I had the same problem with all 4 of my M12 chargers/10 batteries, until I learned. It seems the first few times the batteries are inserted there is a little more physical resistance on the terminals that make you stop pushing down.

Thanks for the tip grooveking I just went out and tried again and they are completley seated and still flashing bad battery. They have been broke in to the point that they go in fairly easily. Im leaning toward a bad charger as I can't imagine that both the batteries crapped out at once. These are one of the few cordless tools i have that have spent their whole life in a climate controlled environment !!! Maybe they just need to ride around in my truck box in the freezing weather like my m18 tools and they will be fine?:)

If the light is still flashing, according to the manual the battery temperature is either too high or too low, where these out in a cold garage when you tried charging them?

TheGrooveking

No it was warm and the battery temp alarm is just one flashing light. When both red and green flash it is a bad battery alarm.

One thing I imagine the heated jacket would be great for is keeping those 12V Li-ion batteries warm in the cold!

I keep my tools in the side box of my truck and haven't noticed any cold weather affects on the Milwaukee batteries. Yesterday morning(24 overnight low) I pulled out the impact and it worked fine. My bosch wasn't affected as bad if the batteries weren't kept in the tool.
I'd like to second the M12 ratchet. If I can get the jacket in 3XL I might have to buy one.

Don't know if you resolve your issue or not but you don't actually need the receipt to have it serviced (according to what is written on the warranty for M12 & M18 series tools). They can determine the date of the tool by the s/n number on the tool. The tools have 5 year warranty. Batteries 2 year warranty so you should be good.

I would love to see a 1/4 or 3/8 ratchet from Milwaukee. Hopefully a mini ratchet size like the Skil power wrench or the Florida Pneumatic. Snap On and Ingersoll Rand 3/8 size are just too bulky for me. Something like this would be great. 10.8v and 45ft lbs of torque. I need this thing and I need it yesteryear ago.

I've got the M12 impactor, driver, hacksall, and inspection camera - have had them about 3 years and they all work very well. Hacksall has fairly limited use, but when you need a small power saw it's nice.

I recently bought the new model Bosch 12v impactor and driver for my shop. They are smaller and much faster than the milwaukee - so I'm thinking Milwaukee is working on upgrading those two.

We had a snap of daytime highs in the teens and lows around -10 for a couple days. My M12's started just flashing red (not your problem) on the charger. I put the batteries by the stove for a while and they then charged normally.

Only issue I've had.

Otherwise with single digit lows and highs in the 30's I haven't seen the problem.

thanks for the pics of the Milwaukee ratchets. What kind of socket rails are in the tool box photo? Are they magnetic? Are you a distibutor? THX

The m12 jacket would be awesome for outdoor sporting events. Once it starts getting later and colder out, instead of carrying around an extra layer, just turn on the heat!

The rails in the pic are the Vim Tools TL Magrails. I am a wholesale distributor of automotive tools.
