The reviews on the M12 Hackzall are pretty troubling. Lots of claims that these things died quickly. M18 and M12 Fuel Hackzall get's much better reviews.

Maybe they're trying to dump the M12's????

I hated mine. Didn't have **** for power. Struggled with kindling, pallets, etc. I'm guessing they're dumping these and going to just M12 Fuel ones?

I'm surprised. I have used my Bosch one quite a bit and it's been fine. And my M12 jigsaw is plenty powerful, I just cut a bunch of steel wire shelving with it even.

Never had the drill, only the 2402-20 Fuel screwdriver. Worked fine, a bit bulky and unbalanced, I ended up selling it though when I swapped all my 12v stuff to Bosch.

I had the jigsaw too, I only used it on 3/4" ply, which worked well...much better than the hackzall did. I think it was just a combination of too much blade speed for the little power it put out? Not to mention hackzall blades are more aggressive.

Received my M12 and M18 kits with discount and returned M18 ( I don't really need any more M18 tools) today to HD. Came back home and opened the M12 kit and was a little disappointed. I know Milwaukee has good CS it's just something else I have to do.

I like the smaller hackzalll but it vibrated like crazy. I have the same in the M18 and it has been great and doesn't vibrate like the M12. Is this normal? Also, the M12 drill LED light stays on all the time. The part of the drill the chuck is attached to is out of round too.

I've had and used Milwaukee tools at home and work for a number of years and with the exception of one I had to return, which they replaced, the quality has been good. Has anyone else experienced the quality of their power tools deminishing lately?

Yep. Same story, kind of, with my M12 drill & Hackzall. The M12 Hackzall will vibrate a filling loose if you're not careful and I found it's actually faster to use it as a manual saw (with the trigger pulled) while cutting anything soft like wood. For metal, I just push it hard up against the shoe and it does better. It does seem to work a lot better with the thinner blades that are made for it, so give those a try if you haven't already.

And, like yours, the spindle is bent on my M12 drill also. I thought it was the chuck so I stuck a 1/2" Jacobs chucks on it - some of us picked them up on clearance at Lowes a year or two ago - but that didn't fix it.

I also have an M18 non-fuel hammer drill that I bent the spindle on the first time I used it. I was using an 18" long 7/16" spade bit, but it was on the screw setting, using the clutch, so was it never bound up. It was fixed under warranty, but I've only used it once since then.

Nowadays, I use the M12 for anything I don't care about and a 12v Bosch or my drill press for anything that needs a little more accuracy. I break out my Fuel Sawzall if I need to cut wood or anything bigger than a bolt /all-thread, copper, etc.

The only thing I don't like about the hacksaw is the way the grip is its easy to dislodge the battery...or maybe I just have big hands

I called Milwaukee and they said return the set to Home Depot. I did and got another set because I want these. (Batteries alone are worth the price I paid for the kit). The drill in the second set is fine and works great. The hackzall still vibrates like crazy so I sent it back to M. We'll see how that goes.

$89 is a really good deal. I bought the set earlier for $100 just to get the Hackzall. So I sold the new drill, with the charger, and two batteries on eBay for $85. Got my cost down to $15 plus sales tax/ebay fees.

Tried to use a 20% off HF coupon, they laughed that one off. No way. Used to work.

At $59, thats a smoking deal.
