Milwaukee M12 PVC Pipe Shear * Model # 2470-20 ??

I am wondering if one of these might work well as a lopper for tree branches.

It should be light enough to put on a pole and reach up high.

Does it have adequate power to cut 2" tree branches?

Does the blade on this Power In AND Power Out?

What happens if you try to cut something and it does not cut all the way through?

Don't want to get cut half way through and then have it be stuck, 15-20 feet up in tree.

Soft tree branches it would likely work. Doubtful on hardwood.

It would be hard to actuate remotely due to built in safety

Yes it can be powered in and out

Get the proper tool for cutting trees.

Or the pole saw. I don't have the hatchet, but do like the pole saw.

Any reason a fiskars pole saw with a built in looper won't work? Mine is amazing and it has a lot of leverage in the mechanism. 2" is a big branch though. At that size you need a saw, IMO

How are you going to pull the trigger on the m12 tool?

That ad is what prompted me to ask the question when I did. I had thought of the idea before, but when I saw the sale price, I decided to think about it again.

I have a gas powered pole saw and it is good for some jobs.

I also have a Fiskars manual loper and am impressed at what it will cut and how easy it does it, BUT I think pulling a trigger for 2-3 seconds per branch would be a LOT easier and a LOT faster.

I am amazed that there are no cordless lopper/shears available that are designed for tree trimming.

Pretty sure I could come up with a way to wire the M12, but if it won't work due to lack of power or..., I don't want to buy one.
