milwaukee m12 ratchet love

day off decided to stop by home depot a check this thing out. i was hoping there would be bolts to try it on but none. was kind of hesitant because it felt kinda of bulky(might of been the zip tie wrapped around it). figured if I didnt like it I could return it. got home and tried running off a few 10mm bolts on my bmw;valve cover, throttle body, grounding points.

took them all off with ease, and felt smooth. As soon as I started using it felt normal didn't have any issues with the size; not having to drag that hose around makes a world of difference. Especially when getting bolts from a downward angle. will update review after bringing it to work(honda dealership).

I just started selling these on my truck. I am thinking that Milwaukee has hit a home run with these tools.

You are not helping me at all with these M12 ratchet reviews! I have been wanting one since I heard a rumor they were coming out. I just can't justify the cost right now considering how many other tools I need/want right now. Good thing the Home Depot near me doesn't carry them or I am sure I would have come home with one.

I am strongly considering buying the 3/8 version of these ratchets. With all the good things I hear, I may pull the trigger soon.

I have a 2450-22 1/4" impact driver and a 2460-21 rotary tool in the Milwaukee M12 line.
I have not used the rotary tool much but I have used the driver quite a bit. The driver is very good with what it can do for its size. I have used an M12 Hackzall and again it did good for its size.
I've seen an M12 copper tubing cutter in use. that is a cool tool if you have a regular need to cut copper pipe.
These tools are can not compete with corded, air power, or higher battery voltage heavier tools but they do a very admirable job for their size.
As sales and funds permit, a 2415-21 right angle driver and either a 2456-21 1/4" ratchet or a 2457-21 3/8" ratchet are in my future.

update. went over to a friends house help put some headers on his integra, and a rear motor mount. was able to take the 12mm off the header to head, he tightened them by hand when he put the motor together hasn't be sitting on there forever. didn't take off the 14mm on ps pump bracket, didn't expect it too was able to use it break free manually and run it off the tool itself provides decent leverage and i believe the box said 5 year warranty? so worries there. was able to fit the tool nicely underneath the intake manifold to run off the motor mount bolts after breaking them loose with a long box wrench.

this is definitely a nice tool to have at home and in the shop. very convenient will increase productivity.

so most 10mm and 12mm sized bolts this tool will definitely work.

I love mine. Gets into about the same places a pneumatic 3/8 incher will, but with no hose. The LED light is a nice touch when digging around in cramped areas trying to get the socket onto the bolt.

I have the Skil 1/4 incher too. It's handy, has been working for years, but it has always suffered from an overactive battery protection circuit. The tool will shut down if the trigger is pressed too fast in succession, and before the batteries are even half used up the tool would quit until it was recharged. They were all like this, and Skil/Bosch never bothered to address the problem or even come out with a redesigned tool. When mine finally kicks the bucket I will probably get a bare tool version of the Milwaukee 1/4" unless there is something better (and more compact, like the Skil) by then.

I know I'm bringing this post back from the dead, but Milwaukee just announced 3 new M12 brushless "Fuel" ratchets in 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" sizes. They will be available Q4. I already have a standard brushed 3/8" (love it) and will keep that one, but I definitely plan to pick up the new 1/4" and 1/2" brushless units when they come out (and hopefully go on sale for the holidays).

I recently read somewhere that Milwaukee will still continue sell the original M12 ratchet as an general assembly tool and the new FUEL models will be to compete better with air and some of the other more powerful battery ratchets already on the mkt. And each size has different torque

I already have my eye on the new 1/2" model

For the amount of time my 1/4 and 3/8 m12 ratchets have saved me, I'm not overly concerned about the price it will pay off in the end

I had one. It vastly prefer the snap on, it's a lot faster and stronger. I found my m12 ratchet too slow, and time is money. How much it really mattered I don't know. I really got it because I love the tool truck service.
