I found myself grab M12 most of the time because the size and the weight. But still use 18v from once a while.

Talked to 2 different Home Depot's, neither even knew what the M12 Fuel was, figures.

I think I'll either get the M12 combo or just the driver for now (really want a hard case), or just get an M18 combo (not sure if it'd be overkill for my uses).

I have the Makita brand brushless tools. My brushless impact, drill/driver, and hammer drill, last considerably longer than my brushed jigsaw, that all use lithium batteries. I don't have brushed lithium drills or drivers, as I jumped into the lithium battery powered tools, waiting for the brushless three speed to come out.

The three speed that controls the torque and speed is the best, cordless tool I have ever used. I later bought a combo kit that didn't have the three speed option impact driver, just the brushless impact driver, also came with a hammerdrill. Both sets brushless. I really like the speed option, I suggest everyone try the three different speeds/torques on different materials. You won't go back. I have used my three speed on metals screws in plastic with great results, on low setting.

I know it is a different brand but the key is the different torque settings really. The impact will impact all day, just keep hammering away. there is some finesse with it I guess, just like any other tool. It adds another level of control. so it is controlled electrically somehow. I would guess changing the resistance, lowering the current.

Try one before choosing you won't be disappointed. I assume the Milwaukee is just like the Makita, they usually are very similar, both great tools. Milwaukee offers more tools, many more tools, despite Makita coming to market sooner. I would cross shop them. If I had to buy again, I would probably go with Milwulee because of the variety tools. 50 or 60 tools, some of them really cool. I wish I had those options with Makita. I don't regret my purchase though, compared to my De Walt set with 6 batteries, it saved me a great deal of time.

I can pull lug nuts off that are torque to 90lbs/ft with it the impact driver.

Well, I lied guys. After handling the M12 in store, I wasn't sold on it. The grip was pretty fat and felt quite large, which is weird for me since I wear an XL glove. I ended up getting an M18 combo off of CPO, felt like it was a great deal for only $199.

Oh, but I did end up with an M12 heated Jacket. Keeps me quite toasty :bounce:

The newer M12 Fuel drills & drivers are touted to have a slightly slimmer grip.

Was the handle grip bigger than the M18?

No, it's not bigger than the M18. I'm a little confused by this "bigger grip" thing myself. I can see going M18 for the power gains and such, but I don't understand what influance the girth of the M12 handle had to do with it :dunno: The M12 stuff isn't what I would consider large and may even be smaller than average.

hey guys,

Just to confirm. Are the M12 and M12 Fuel and M12 Fuel XC batteries interchangeable on all M12 and M12 tools?

And whatever the answer may be, does the same thing apply to the M18 and M18 Fuel?

Yes, as long as it's an M__ battery and not the old V series, they interchange. All the same batteries, but the Fuel kits got the new higher capacity batteries sooner than most regular kits did. The M12 2.0ah batteries are pretty damn nice, BTW. I think the Hackzall runs longer on one than my old 18v did on a big pack.
