Hi, I bought the M18 Milwaukee 16 inch chainsaw. I'd like to by spare chains. The chain is: 16in, .043 guage, 3/8 pitch, 56 link. Any use Oregon R56 chains with this saw, they re priced a few dollars less than the Milwaukee branded box.

Oregon chains are ok. Carlton or stihl are better but probably cost more. I cant compare them to milwaukees stock chain but I would be highly dubious that milwaukee actually makes it or is any better than the three I mentioned.

Great post. My M18 chainsaw arrived yesterday and I'm very pleased. I also like a lot of spare chains around and they seem quite available and cheap. However...does anyone make a profession chain without the anti kick back stuff? If not, for what it is, I can live with safety chains. Take care...

I bought a 2 pack of the Oregon size that fits. Cheap and good enough for my occasional use. So cheap I don’t think I will bother sharpening the original Milwaukee chain.

thanks for the replys. As a homeowner without a fireplace my saw see's occasional use, sometimes sitting for a couple months. I passed my 25 year old Husky 41 to a friend and bought the M18.

My Milwaukee M18 FUEL chainsaw came with a Milwaukee-imprinted Oregon bar and Oregon chain.

My advice is to go with Oregon replacements. That's what I'm going to do.
