I have the Milwaukee M28 system 4 piece system M28™ SAWZALL® Recip , Cordless Lithium-Ion 1/2" Hammer Drill, M28™ Cordless LITHIUM-ION 6-1/2" Circular Saw and Cordless Lithium-ion 1/2" Impact Wrench.

I recently purchased the 1/2" Impact Wrench M 18 Fuel System and feel in love with this system. I did this because I needed the stronger straight wrench for a project. This brings me to a questions some that I was hopping you all can help me with:

1) Has anyone worked with both systems a terms of real world power. Does the 18 Fuel system work better than the 28 Vt system is it worth the upgrade;

2) If the 18 Fuel is better does it make sense to switch over the the 18 Fuel system. The big thing in the back of my mind is the replacement costs of the 28 vt batteries are $250-300 which I will most likely need to do in the next few years.

3) Would if make sense to sell my current 28 vt system and replace with the new 18 fuel in that seem that Milwaukee seems to not being expanding its offering in the 28 vt system.

4) I would welcome and other thoughts have on this.

Thanks John

Had to question the same thing 10 months ago. The batteries on my dewalt 36volt were starting to get lazy. I put it up for sale, but no takers. The replacement cost for batteries was too great. It sits as my back up now.

The new fuel tools are truly the next level in cordless systems. They're light and charge fast. The runtime is just nuts. The power is insane! Before buying them, I was asking myself if they could really be that much better than what I have now. Fuel is 10 times better all around and would make the same choice again in a heartbeat.

I am interested in the m18 fuel lineup for future tools. I have the same four piece set plus the grinder and angle drill. I got a good 7 or so years out of the batteries. Bought four new batts at around $115.00 a piece. Much cheaper than replacing it all with the new fuel lineup. I am considering the fuel 18 volt drill just for the weight savings.

At the company I just left we had mostly 28V we tried a new 18V fuel drill. The 28V stuff is just. More heavy duty to me. I'd just replace the batteries when the time comes. As some have said you can get some decent prices on them.

I have both the m12 fuel and m18 fuel. Take a look at the m12 drill and impact for weight savings. im a carpenter and 9 times out of 10, the m12 fuel has more than enough power to get the job done without the weight of the m18.

Since this thread I have purchased the 3/8" m12 fuel impact, 3/8" m18 fuel impact, and the m18 fuel hammer drill and 1/4" impact combo.

The m28 grinder that I currently use works well but I often find myself switching back and forth from cutoff and grinding wheels and would like an additional grinder.

Has anyone bought one yet and have any feedback on it that they could share?

You really need to ask how good is the fuel grinder?:lol_hitti

I've had it since it came out. It is truly fantastic. I've done countless welding projects with it and have used diamond cutting wheels with it for concrete. It's a beast.
