Milwaukee MidTorque Power settings

What are you all seeing for torque ratings with the Milwaukee midtorque impact gun? What are you seeing for mode 1,2,3? Got one for Christmas.

High setting...does work
Lower settings...slows work

I think the 'feature' would be much more practical for me if it was a momentary button. The added time for free running threads never feels worth it.

Pretty much. I use 1 to run something down if I am going to hand torque it after. The rest of the time I use 3 on or off.

I was actually pretty disappointed in how bad the setting 1 (Low) was on the mid torque with the friction ring. The pin model has a much better setting 1.

The friction model setting 1 is much to slow for my liking.

I think if I got one (a mid torque) maybe it be the pin model. I have had 2655B the original ball pin model socket changes have never really been an big issue for me


Like with the original high torque slow mode is sloooow! :lol:

I think OP you should do some bench testing for general tightening torque probably find if you chuck up different size nut and bolt combos in a vice you different bolt size and thread count give somewhat different tightening results. Once they are tightened up to your satisfaction mark them and use a torque wrench to find when they move.

Does this mid torque have that 1 sec feature?

The Mid Torque RPMs for modes are 510/2100/2400. How that translates into ft-lbs exactly is unknown. In mode 3 its 450/600 ft-lbs. If you proportionalize rpm to torque on tightening mode 1 would be about 95 ft-lbs, I have found it to be about 80ish.

Finally some real world experience. Everyone must have been drinking too much eggnog yesterday.

I will get some idea when get to use it in a few days. Just hoping someone had already done some testing.

It doesn't quite work that way though... tightness is a also function of the number of impacts so if you sit there on low banging away for 3 minutes,you will get a lot tighter than if you let off after 5 whacks. On slow it just takes a long time to reach the point where the nut stops turning.

Ya really that's the whole point behind the count feature on the new One Key model repeatability thru a consistent number of impacts.


Way back when RTR did a test on the max torque of #1 setting on the 2673 it was only achieved with a certain size nut and bolt combination 5/8x 11 thread I believe it was, and fasteners under that size didn't reach that amount of tightness using that setting.

Keep pounding a smaller thread size fastener with high torque power to much and your probably just going strip threads

Been quite a while since Milwaukee equated torque numbers with the RPM/IPM of the different ranges that I have seen though they once did print stats like that for 26XX compact tools. Don't quite remember what the duration of impact time (if any) was factored in either with those numbers. :dunno:
