I purchased a small cheap tool box for my young son yesterday from a clean out guy. Once I paid he then shows me this Milwaukee Model 3000 Trans Jack. It appears to be in pretty good shape and complete minus the surface rust, and believe it or not it actually works. I did a quick Google search and found a place selling a refurbished one for $699, but I can't seem to find any good info about them. Does anyone know anything about these? Is this the same Milwaukee company that we know today? He wants $50 for it which I think is a pretty good deal but as always, I come to GJ for help. No one is knocking down his door for it so I know it will be there for me. Here's some pics of it.

It's a heck of a good deal if it works. I'd snag it in a minute. It's made for "on your back" trans work... not for using under a lift.

Yeah I get that it's for humpin a ****** into a car while on your back. I'm definitely not interested in it for using it. I like it because it's cool and it works. I thought $50 was a good price as well. If I get it I'd probably just restore it and well who knows what I'd do with it. I like old stuff lol. Does anyone have any info on it? Age? Is it Milwaukee that we know of today etc?

It is Milwaukee Hydraulics--made in Milwaukee, but not affiliated with Milwaukee Electric Tool corp. Now they call themselves Milwaukee Jack, but are STILL selling U.S. made jacks--they don't sell any Asian ****. Their jacks are expensive and last just about forever. I have two old Milwaukee floor jacks.

Thanks ROBERTS210. I checked their site you posted and their stuff just looks like quality. I sent them a message requesting information about the trans jack. I think I'm going to pull the trigger and pick it up for $50. I think if I restore it I can sell for way more than that and if not, I'll just keep it.

They don't spend a lot of time answering either emails or their phone, so don't hold your breath if it takes them a long time to reply. I've called them probably 10 times and 9 times it went to voicemail and I never heard back, but ONCE I actually got a helpful person on the line who sent me what I needed.

Their jacks ARE quality. A new Milwaukee Model 20 service Jack sells for $440. or so. If an ebay or CL seller has one, and knows what he has, they sell for $300 and up used, but bargains are still out there to be found--as you found out. Hope you get it, restore it and keep it.

I am going to contact him this week and ****** it up. I even found a rebuild kit online for it. I'll just add one more project to the list. Thanks for the info. Hopefully they get back to me.

Any luck finding parts for the Milwaukee 3000 transmission jack?
I Found one that works but could use a ram pin and a handle.

The 3000 was a great jack for working on the floor. There was an accessory stand that allowed it to be used under a lift. I have one but never used it much. The jack is large and hard to work around under a lift. A single post trans jack is a lot easier to use under a lift. We had a 3000 in a shop I worked at when I was a kid. I recall the guys complaining about the 3000 and refusing to use it.
Milwaukee the hydraulic company is NOT the same company as the one that makes electric drills ect. Milwaukee the hydraulic company was an exceptional manufacturer ! Their equipment was the best I had ever seen. Their designs were created mostly in the 40's and the 50's . Back before the Japan/Chinese invasion cheap hydraulic anything did not exist ! All the big name hydraulic jack companies made good products. The **** were the first to dump cheap hydraulic's on the US market. By todays standards even the jap jacks were dam good back in the 60's 70's. . The Chinese took it to a whole new low. they proved that you could build cheap throw away junk and that people would buy it. Eventually the US COMPANIES were run into bankruptcy. Milwaukee some how survived. How I will never know. Their prices are high , extremely high ! I know most of their sales for the last 30 years have been government contracts. They don't answer the phones or return emails is because they don't have enough employees any more. 20 years ago I was going to have them build me some 3000 jacks. It was discontinued then but they said they would build them. They sent me a quote 2900.00 each minimum order 1000 jacks... That killed that deal ! In conclusion : The 3000 was the best working on the floor trans jack I have ever seen or used ! It was designed for small light weight transmissions such as were used in the 40's 50's and 60's. They **** for doing 4x4 transfer cases. They tip when loaded with off center loads . They are awkward on their stand under a lift. They are the the best ever for working on antique cars on the floor. I have few friends looking for one. Let me know if any turn up for sale.

My thread was revived!!! Well, I haven't done more than wipe it down. It still works but I haven't had the need to use it or the time to restore it. I am actually looking to get rid of it as I do nothing but trip over it in the garage. Anyone interested let me know.
