Milwaukee my impact trigger, is there a DIY fix for this?

I have a lotta Milwaukee M18 tools, some that I've dropped off step ladders etc and never had a problem with anything breaking but my mid-torque 1/2" impact fell onto the gravel from our RV steps (about 24") and the trigger fell off. Since then I've had an elastic holding it in place but I'm wondering is this a DIY fixable or do I need to send it to the Milwaukee service ctr?
Thx

Super glue or epoxy that sucker back on!

But seriously, according to the link above, can't buy just the switch, have to buy the entire electronics assy which includes the motor stater for $190. If that's the case that's stupid!

IIRC MW has flate rate costs for each tool. Can login or create an account online, enter the tool info & it will tell you how much the flate rate repair cost is. Or if you have a local repair center can go there too.

I suspect for that impact the flate rate cost will be close to what that electronics assy costs.

Also keep in mind, MW will cover the shipping to them so it's free to send in. They'll give you a quote for repair but IIRC if you choose not to have it repaired & want it back, they'll charge you for return shipping AND they'll send it back to you in pieces (they won't reassemble it if they disassemble it for inspection). Some **** about they don't want to be liable for sending back a tool in insufficient operable condition.

If it were me & glue don't work, I'd open it & look for a p/n on the switch. But then again if you do find the switch it might not come with the trigger? If no other option, hate to say but at those prices for repair I would buy a new one after being pissed for a couple of weeks.

Just noticed your location, BC. Is that BC Canada? If yes I found this price list.

Says flate rate repair cost for that impact is $228 CAD but the price list is from Feb 2019. Couldn't find a price list for the US. Also $190 for the electronics assy is USD so $256 CAD? That's expensive!

Thanks for the info and links. (y)(y)
Will hafta look into this at some time in the future, in the meantime I'll just try some kinda glue like you said.
TBH I got so used to it with the rubber band on there I kinda forgot about it but it musta broke and it's been replaced with a fresh one. ;)
Sure like it though and impressive being only a "mid-torque", even broke loose my axle nut on my old half ton which is 177lb/ft.

Oh duh, I didn't even realize it was the mid-torque, for some reason I just thought it was the high-torque. I had that same exact one, didn't get to use it as much as you have though. The only thing it failed to loosen for me was the crank pulley bolt on my Tacoma.

I bought the gen2 mid-torque during a sale & gave the gen1 one to my buddy. If it does cost that much to fix, don't even bother, get the gen2. If you like the gen1 now, you'll love the gen2, very noticeable power gain.

Thanks, will keep that in mind about the new model. Right now I'm fine with it as is so until it really falls apart I'll make do. Not going to change the stator etc just to keep the trigger on.
Thanks for your help.
Glue it is... ;)

lots of these tool companies simply price repairs so they can send a refurbished unit or a new one if they aren't available. I had a Bosch unit that is a current model and the cord got cut. Tried to buy a new cord from Bosch since it had special ends on it and electronics as part of it. On order for a month with no date in sight for it. Dropped it off at Goodwill and moved on. These companies are not interested in providing parts. They are sales organizations that market new products, which get built somewhere in China.

I would clean it all up with some alcohol to degrease the surfaces then use some epoxy to hold it together. Little risk in trying.

I had the exact same problem. Cleaned up both parts with some alcohol and glue it back together with super glue. That was a year ago and it still works fine.

Did you ever find a way to detach it from your trigger finger? I have one permanently attached to my hand doing that and spilling a little glue. (kidding)
