higher voltage motors are faster.
this is not an apples to apples comparison. i would just concern myself with how the tool beats the fastener in or out.

Hi,

Did you read the specs on the website I listed?

Free spin speed on the 3/8 Fuel 2650 RPM
Free spin speed on the 1/4 Hex 2200 RPM
A difference of 450 RPM.

3/8 Fuel should noticeably spin faster.

You are also comparing a M12 to an M18....that may have something to do with the difference in speed.

I understand that. But the torque is both 1400 in-lbs. Now I'm not comparing the speed with load, I'm comparing the "no load speed".
