I would rather opt for the skinny 3.0 batteries - the ones coming with the Northern Tool deal come in the way when working in odd angles. But for anyone in need of an inflator, this is still the deal to get. Best inflator on the market. M12>M18 for topping off tires.

I disagree. The M12 inflator only excels at bike and mower tires, it’s barely adequate for topping off car tires and a joke when it comes to truck tires. Adding 3 psi fron 33 to 36 psi to the tires on my Bronco with the M12 took enough time that I could walk to the bench, grab a battery from the drawer, and set up a second M12 inflator on the next tire before it was done. The M18 does the same task in less than 10 seconds. Trying to top off a 3/4 ton from 65 to 80 psi with the M12 takes 8-9 minutes and consumes most of a 6.0 battery. I put up with the M12 before the M18 inflator was out, but now that the M18 is here I’ll never touch either of my M12 again.

I honestly have not encountered any issues with the M12 inflator. I'm pumping air into sedans and SUV's, not sure if that's a factor. The nozzle can be improved though as that seems to leak air very easily almost immediately after disconnecting it from the valve stem.

I have had the M12 inflator for a few years and just got the M18. The M12 is little and does the job for topping off tires that don’t have too much air or pressure — car tires or smaller. But it is a slow buzz box compared the the M18. That M18 is smooth, powerful and fast.

I have found the m12 to be priceless, and I got it for free. 1 truck, 2 cars perfect for a topoff.

My brother burned up his M12 compressor using it on his F-250, but it’s really undersized for that application. On car and small SUV tires doing a 2-3 psi top off in the 35 psi range the M12 works, higher pressure can be done but not efficiently. The M12 couldn’t do my Tacoma with stock 265/70R16 tires coming off the beach from 12psi back to 32 psi on one 6.0 battery. I do think the M12 ideal for kids and wives to use for bike tires or similar. The M18 is probably too much for my fat tire bike at 12 psi.

On both the M12 and M18 I’ve used the quick connect adapters. They work well about 90% of the time. Sometimes they slip off or need to be screwed on half a turn to get the clasp that engages the threads in the right place.

Unfortunately, I didn't notice this till after I bought. I'm not super familiar with all the different components available. I thought these were the same as the 4.0ah battery I already have but I was going only off form factor. I do have a smaller, 3.0ah battery as well. Mainly I jumped on this deal for the inflator, the batteries were a nice perk since I have 3 M12 tools but only 2 batteries currently. NEVER have I had an issue with power capacity. I've actually been blown away how long all of my batteries last. Even using my M12 impact on a spring compressor recently which I figured took a ton of power and the battery was barely phased.

Luckily, I have a Viair 488p for my truck tires. Getting this little M12 inflator was so I didn't have to pull the dedicated compressor out of my truck for little stuff or didn't have to run 100' of compressor hose just to top off a tire. And it'll be most useful for when I'm at the track and need to add a few psi to my tires at the end of the day. But those tires are tiny 225/45R15 so it should make quick work of those. I'm sure the M18 is nice, but I haven't yet jumped into the M18 arena so I only have M12 stuff currently.

The Home Depot and Lowes deals for the Holiday season are live...

Milwaukee's 2-pack 5.0Ah batteries for $99 is not a bad deal either (after hack).

Can you post a link? I don't see which deal you're talking about hacking here.

Thanks.

Thx all! Got the H-D M18 Inflator, Batteries and Charger combo. The M12 inflator is great for most things but does get pretty hot and works hard to fill the big Jeep tires. I expect the M18 will have an easier time of it.

I don’t have the m12 but the m18 is great. Better than I expected and definitely worth the money.

About to pick up the M18 inflator for $94, figured that quicker and less noisier is better especially during early morning hours 🤣

So I've never done this 'hack' thing before, but I think I want the inflator. I already have 3-4 of the 5.0 batteries, so they are not needed.

Do I buy them for pick up in store, and return the batteries? Or can I just cancel the batteries online right after I place the order...and still pick up the inflator at the store?

I usually just return the part I don't want at the store but either way works.

If you select the correct items into your cart that are part of this deal the receipt will have each item separately discounted. If the items are not separately discounted in the cart or receipt then you won’t be able to return one without the other.
If you only want to pickup the inflator kindly ask to return the battery at the same time. Things are easier when the returned items are unopened and never leave the store.

I pick up both items, walk to my truck and put the item I’m keeping inside, then walk back to the return desk with the unwanted item.

I just order both and cancel the one I don't need immediately after placing the order. The store associates know exactly what I'm up to and really don't care. The only way to keep a customer is to please the customer. 🤣

I was always under the impression that they track how many returns you make, and flag you if you abuse them. Why else do they ask for ID to make a simple return?

This is true, but they're more looking at people returning merchandise that is stolen.

They shouldn't be. Only reason for ID is to scan to store credit tagging.

And while some have said to cancel before hand, I had an odd occurrence two weeks ago getting a Ryobi miter saw with BOGO battery. I cancelled the battery after ordering, but before pickup. Upon pickup, they dinged me pull price on the saw. After realizing, I placed *another* order, to correct and returned the 2nd to the 1st order.
This was the first time in MANY cancelled BOGO deals a price change occured.

I've also had problems canceling 1 of the items killing the full order. I always pick up everything and return what I don't want. If you pick up from 2 different stores I think you can cancel the one you don't want after picking up what you want but I haven't tried that.

I've only done the hack once, and I wasn't intending to do it when I bought the item. Home Depot physical stores had a crazy low price on a Makita cordless miter saw. Makita had a deal where you got a free additional set of 5.0 LXT batteries with the saw. The batteries rang up separately on the receipt. I saw that on the receipt when I got home and realized I should be able to return the batteries I didn't really need to save on the saw. I returned the batteries with no issue. The crazy low price was really crazy after returning the batteries!

Thanks all. I did order it, and will go pick it up tomorrow in store and return the batteries while I'm there.

Any thoughts on what are the most useful tools of the 'free" ones listed on the m18 banner? Looks like Dewalt's offerings are quote a bit better (for some people) this year unfortuantly for the red user base. The grinder is ok but might as well use corded if you are grinding a lot. The surge is 6 years old, hackzall peolpe seem to like, wood tools idk, blower only really good for yardwork and snow on the car. Inflator seems ok, but limited use?, oscillating tool is great but already have one

Does the hack work if you just return the tool too?

Northern has a good deal going- haven't kept up on the drama with the new High Torque impact and whether or not it's really a longevity issue. I'll be eBay'n it anyway as my Mid-Torque covers what I need. My goal is to get the M18 Stick light and M12 Ratchet for free or close to it.

$569 for everything in the pic.

I was looking at this deal as well and have noticed the M12 battery is in the photo, but no mention of it in the description or in the "whats included" part.

The photo is also of the regular Fuel ratchet rather than the newer high speed Fuel ratchet, again no precise description of it, just "M12 fuel ratchet"

I tried to return my combo at the same time I picked it up yesterday. They said they couldn't do it.

I'm going back this morning to see if the new shift of employees can do it for me...

That sounds painful. Fingers crossed. Starting to have an over population of 5.0s and 6.0s due to the deals over the past few years. Really wish we could trade two 6.0s for a 12.0 or maybe I need to buy the lawnmower so I can get two more 12.0s.

Even better deal, M18 inflator, 2 5.0 and charger, $199.

I am trying to resist buying this as I recently bought an M18 compressor setup to be used mostly for airing things up. Maybe if I bought this one of my kids can help me inflate all of the tires on the family fleet?!?

Seems like a pretty good deal if you're looking for pack out stuff.
