I do have some interest in the new Makita ratchet because of the rpm.
But what I don't have is 12v in Milwaukee or Makita. So kind of torn between them and they're still big compared to an air ratchet.
Originally was just wondering if anyone has ever seen deals on the 1/4 fuel ratchet. Thanks for all the feedback.

The big advantage to 12V Milwaukee is the other tools, form factor(it's like a pneumatic) and that you can use your M18/M12 charger.

The Makita, slide pack so the base is wide but the HUGE advantage is that you can change from 1/4" to 3/8" ...I think it's closer to the size of the 3/8" Fuel but I haven't seen any side-by-side comparisons.

I think the biggest advantage of the Makita is 800 rpm vs 250 rpm for the Milwaukee. The interchangeable head and trigger are a close second.
Speed and size are what I'm looking for in a 1/4 package and at this time cordless isn't close compared to air power.

There is no deal for the HTIW & 8.0. The only “deal” on the HT is for $299 w/ one battery, charger, & hard case.

If you don’t need the case, you are better off buying the HT at HD this week (til 11/3) and returning the 5ah battery.

Now, you aren't going to get the full value, but what the discounted amount is. 9/10 times though, the battery can still be had for cheaper than after the discount, so I rarely keep them. On top of that, I can do without anymore 5s

Yes, the receipt will show you the refund amounts for the tool and battery on a per line item basis.

If you search back through the thread a bit you will find the formulas used to calculate it. Generally it is fairly simple but if it goes to more than 2 items in the deal, the formula gets harder.

We really should post the formula in the OP or something so we can easily reference it, this gets asked all the time.

bare tool msrp is $200, so that is decent deal to get a battery & charger, especially if it's your first tool & need those. Tool only on ebay is ~$160 (figure if they accept a best offer).

A good deal with them is around 15%. A better deal is if you can combine it with a free battery promo on the site. Veterans Day might be a slightly better coupon, but Black Friday or cyber Monday will probably be the best deal.

It does get asked a lot. I am always trying to figure it out in my head.
I searched it down last night. Post #3009 has the formula. It was posted when the starter kits were going. Plug the value of the battery into where the starter kits are and it should work the same.

$199 x ($199 / ($199 + tool)) = starter cost(battery cost)
$tool x ($199 / ($199 + tool)) = tool cost after returning battery

I was eyeballing the 4 1/2” - 5” Fuel grinder so me shall see. HD website has the grinder and battery together for the free battery. My local store has the battery and bare tool separate. Not sure they are gonna honor the deal.

I don't have an immediate need for a circular saw right now, but will get plently of use out of it over time. The free 6.0 battery is what caught my eye. Seems like it's pretty rare for HD to toss a free 6.0 into the deal, no?

Opinions on the saw itself for DIY homeowner use cutting 1/2 plywood/OSB/etc? I have a 12" corded miter saw, corded circular saw, and will have a table saw for big jobs that need higher power/capacity/runtime

My M12 circular saw has not let me down yet. That's a really good deal. I'd get one for my son for Christmas, but this May he is going to relocate with the military and it would just be left behind with me.

i have the m12 circular saw and it's hot garbage for cutting 3/4 sheet. do not recommend for casual home use...maybe its better for a framer?

bought the new m18 BL 7 1/4 saw to replace it.

I use my exclusively to rip plywood, I have a kreg rip cut saw guide on mine. I think for this specific task, it's the ideal tool. Enough power to cut plywood and small size makes it nice.

Powerful is a stretch. It's a nice light weight saw, but it's not something you can really push through a cut. You have to let it go at it's own pace or it's easy to bog it down. Especially if you aren't cutting perfectly straight or do anything else to put some pinch on the blade.

You're not supposed to push through a cut, let the blade do the work. I also try to cut straight lines with it, I use my jigsaws when I want to cut curved lines...But that's just me.

I'd highly recommend the Fuel version of the handheld hackzall, not the weaker one. Use my fuel one to trim tree branches and cut PVC.

I ordered a Hackzall a couple of years ago, it was nearly worthless, so I returned it. The only M12 tool I've ever been disappointed with.
Still liked the idea of a lightweight one-handed saw, so I decided to try the Fuel version on sale a couple of months ago- it's awesome. Completely different tool; no comparison between the two

I would definitely be a buyer at $100 with a battery. Right now, they are selling for $200.
