I know this thread is getting a little off track, but it reminds me of a good friend of mine that was a self employed auto mechanic working out of his home the last 45 years. It seems that every time I drove up to his home, I could hear him using his pneumatic impact In the garage. I always wondered how his neighbors felt about the noise, but seems they were okay with it, since he did a lot of auto repairs for them also. Anyway, I know comparing pneumatic and battery impacts isn’t apples to apples, but my friend was wearing hearing aids in both ears by his mid-sixties, and even then it was hard having a conversation with him at times. Granted, he was a full time mechanic, and not just DIY, but hearing is precious and should be taken seriously. Anything that helps reduce eventually hearing loss is worth the extra expense in my book.

My grandmother was a school teacher her whole life and ended up wearing hearing aids too.

This kind of discussion is much better off in the Milwaukee addiction thread:

My brushed version has failed 3 times with light use. Id either pony up for the brushless or wait for a sale.
Well it looks like a 2525 Brushless will be my future rotary tool. Shame its kind of new as I am always happier to by on discount or bundled with another tool I want.

Power tool accessories...

49-22-4185 Hole Saw Kit, 50% off at HD.

I need one of these bits today, but of course there are none local, so I'll just order it now so I don't have this problem again in the future...

I have had mixed results buying on Ebay. That said, I have dealt with that vendor and they do honor returns and overall are easy to deal with.

VIP Outlet is quite reliable. You will also see them list on Walmart's site. They buy Home Depot returns. Most of these are in brand new condition, but if not have usually just been opened. If they list it as new, I trust them that it will be, and if not, they will make it right. I can't say this about other sellers, but I wouldn't worry ordering from them

Are the batteries likely to be really old?

The description (or picture) was wrong, said that the charger had two M18 ports, but they showed a M18 / M12 charger in the picture.

That I couldnt answer. Usually they cycle through stuff pretty quickly. To be fair, I have bought a couple year old tool (based on date) from HD, and if that tool were returned, could show up.
So there is always a chance

Last quarter promos ended yesterday. Main promo of BMSM started for the next 3 months for select M12/M18 tools. All Milwaukee authorized retailers

$50 off $300
$100 off $400
$150 off $500

Also some tool deals for Special Buy of the Day

Looks like a decent deal on M18 8.0, 12.0, and rapid charger for $299. Seems like the 12.0 batteries are seldom discounted.

So HD is blowing out the Makita 40v mower kit with 2x 4.0 batteries for 200 bux, in store only. I can imagine the team red mower will never go on sale for anything approaching that level of cheap, even if it was bare mower only. My gas mower has about 1 more season in it. It made it through last season but its starting to need a LOT more love than it should to keep running. What is the best deal we've seen on the mower? I think like 900 was probably the cheapest I have ever seen it. I already have all the batteries I need to run the damn thing, wish they sold it bare tool.

They seem to be littering Marketplace as a bare tool for $400-500.

Still stuck in the same boat as well. Today my dad was complaining that the stop cable on the crapsman gas mower cracked at the head so the mower found another excuse not to work again.

Seeing m18 mowers go off $500-600 on Craigslist slightly used without batteries. Seems like all of the CA astroturf conversions seem to be helping the used pricing.

Who knows?
Ugh, I always check that first (not this time, obviously).

Better recommendation?

Mike
No sir, can’t help you there

The only reason I flagged it in spite of the high star count is because I remember running across a little too much negative chatter on similar Black Friday sets 5-6 years ago.

Maybe they work well for some folks, but the teeth flattening so quickly is too much of a red flag for me.

Thanks. I didn't cancel the order quickly enough, they showed up a couple of days later. I haven't opened the case, but that says lifetime warranty against broken teeth. Doesn't say anything about worn teeth, and I honestly haven't had time to dig into it further.

Worn teeth are part of normal wear & tear, and not covered.
But just because it's worn, doesn't mean it can't break a tooth 😉

OK, so first the Makita mower for 299 last week and now the DeWalt mower for 299? Apparently the DeWalt mowers are known to eat their batteries quickly so this apparently a terrible buy. But, come on Milwaukee mower clearance sale next week!

Milwaukee has no other mower announced, or another option available to replace it with. Whereas Dewalt has other options, and I don't know if anyone even wants Makita it seems, but both have been yellow tagged for months with them just finally hitting a level to clear out quickly.
But now Spring resets are happening, and the Milwaukee is still quitely sitting with its exisitng tag, it is going to keep it unfortunetly.

I don't think so unless some sellers have different tools in the mix. I wasn't able to get it to show in cart.

The buy more save more deal is really limited. Only 2 of the 3 tools on my list make it and I tried several shops offering the deal. No mower. Wait a week and maybe a Washington’s Birthday deal will show up.

I got a discount code from an ebay seller I have bought from before, factory_authorized_outlet
20% off milwaukee up to max $500 discount.
Not sure if it is account specific. MILW20OFF

Last I looked yesterday the mower was on there. I got mine last year with a $100 off deal on ebay, this is a better discount.

20% off is not as good as 30% off (150 off 500) but better than nothing if you must buy now.

Try as you will, sort of difficult to get to just over $500, at least with tools you still need/want, diminishing that 30% to closer to 27% tops.
And if the item isn't part of the BMSM, 20% is likely going to be the best straight off percentage you will find on a more expensive item.

Even though it says valid until the 11th, it looks like it may have ended. I clicked the link in my original email and it says no longer valid. Not sure what happened.

It probably isn't a hot deal, but is this a decent deal? It includes a 5th battery (8.0) as a bonus also.

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwauk...atteries-3697-22-2729-20-48-11-1862/321632959

I have a lot of M!2 but my 18V drill and driver are Bosch. I am needing a cordless portaband, and this might be a good time change from Bosch everything else also.

Edit to add: The bare tools would run about $622. That leaves $347 for 2x XC5.0, 2x XC6.0 and 1x XC8.0 batteries.

Pass for me. The pair of 6.0 and 8.0 batteries comes up once in a while for $275. Keep an eye on the home depot special buy of the day.
