Interested in the M12 rivet gun but 98% of the HD reviews focus on the battery and not the riveter. With a few exceptions most M12 tools perform well so it will be good to hear your review when you give it the test run.

EDIT: selecting the tool-only version ($249) will have riveting HD reviews of this riveter and less talk of the battery

I love my M12 riveter, haven't used it a ton, maybe 250 rivets, no issues.

Heh, I'm kinda glad about that. I bought the M18 high torque with a Forge 8.0 and the M12 Fuel 3/8 ratchet with a XC4.0 last week. I missed out on the new gen 3/8 stubby. My wallet is not happy, but I definitely am. :ROFLMAO:

If only I could have snagged that gen 3 3/8 stubby too. :ROFLMAO:

I haven't been following the band file prices. Is 200 bux plus the 2.5amp battery on the 18" band file decent?

The last/only sale from Home Depot oon it was when it dropped to 249 and came with a 2.5 amp as well. That was either during the spring or summer.
That however also ran in store, so you could split it up, and a small local retailer had it for $199, so I price matched.

Those special buys were the black friday deals I think.

I didn't need that grease gun but for $100 including an extra 2.5ah battery I couldn't say no.

I'm glad I wass able to snag that deal. I've been holding out since Aug/Sep for a deal on both the 3/8" & 1/2" gen2 stubbies. I got the 1/2" from acme tools, they had a $30 off pre BF coupon.



Speaking of which, they have a $20 giftcard if ordering $99+ which may work.

Did anyone notice Deal of the Day prices change before they should have yesterday? The XL camo jacket was under $200 at one point for sure, and I thought the Rivet gun was $199 but was $249 before the day was over.

I noticed the compact M18 band saw tool only WITH a 8.0 forge battery for $269 yesterday morning. I ordered it last night at $264.00. Same saw with only a HO 8 ah battery went from to $249 to $259. Saw alone was more expesive than both. I was hesitant to play the game again but hopefully I will get the battery this time around. It doesn't matter if its black friday or cyber monday , their special prices jump around day by day. I get their special buy everday emails and had been looking at a few milwaukee items and I seen the prices jumps within $50.00 here and there.

I've seen prices jump around on different days but very rarely have I seen them change the same day. It has happened due to price mistakes but special buy prices are supposed to be set for 24 hours. It could have been regional error because when I logged in around 11pm pacific last night to buy the band file, I think I remember the rivet gun still being 200. Is it possible it was a price change mistake that got rolled out and then rolled back?

I haven't done as many rivets as I thought I would with my rivet gun but it has been flawless for me every time I've used it. I don't think anyone looking to buy it would be disappointed with it.

I'll act as a voice of reason (read this in your wife's voice if it helps). I think it really depends on just how many rivets you think you'll do. Put an actual number on it. I use rivets sometimes, but probably less than a couple dozen a year. I like the idea of having the M12 riveter and the recent price was great, but my vintage USA hand riveter works fine and cost me like $20 or $30.

And a pneumatic gun can be had for < $75. Mine is an Arrow, it works great. Not too many people need the M12 gun, including me. I do actually use rivets often. But I will certainly be looking for reasons to use more.

I will see your voice of reason and raise you the I'm in the Milwaukee addiction thread and I got it at a good price. But I see your point for sure. At the time I bought it, I thought I was about to do a TON of rivets and then ended up not doing that project.

I was about to start questioning how @gamp945 got in here, but your response was far more civil, LOL...

I definitely don't NEED the riveter, but will enjoy it thoroughly when I do use it. I don't have pneumatic tools (nor a desire to own them).

Most times, I'm pulling 1-inch long x 3/16 stainless rivets. Those take multiple pulls, and with a manual riveter, it's easy to have the tool slip, and waste rivets (and time getting the half-pressed rivet out). And being stainless, take a lot more effort than aluminum ones.

I got sucked into one of these combos with the 5.0ah and XC 8.0 batteries and charger. I'd consider selling the charger and XC 8.0 to someone, as I don't "need" them.

Home Depot also has the right angle 3/8" drive impact is also on sale with an m12 2.5 battery. These don't go on sale often so if you've been waiting one of these, now is a good time to jump on it.

Your link sent me down the rabbit hole of impacts. I already have the mid-torque you posted and I want a compact. After much debate, I've decided to get the 2855-20 M18 1/2" Compact. All my batteries are M18 and I already have 1/2" impact sockets, so this is the best option for me. (The 3/8" Compact was tempting and some independent tests show it's just as strong as the 1/2". ) Now to find the 1/2" on sale. $219 is the best I'm seeing with a warranty. Amazon has it for less. If anyone sees this one go on sale, please give me a heads up!

Just be patient, the one you want will go on sale eventually or there will be another discount you can use to get it at a good deal. The hardest part is figuring out which of the 500 impacts you actually want so now it is just a waiting game.

Thanks to you guys I also got the high torque yesterday. After spending much of the day trying to convince myself I didn't need or want it, it still wasn't sold out at 9 PST. Apparently I felt sorry for the 1700 or so high torques without a home during the holidays. So I bought one.

Have to compare the size and ergonomics to my gen 1 mid torque, but am thinking that might lose its spot on the cart and eventually get rehomed.

My most used impact is the M12 stubby 3/8” followed by the M18 mid torque 1/2”. I can’t see where the M18 stubby is smaller enough than the mid torque to justify owning. If I need small I also prefer the smaller 3/8” sockets. Good luck with your search.
