M18 Fuel Track Saw on Deal of the Day at Home Depot 2/3/25 $379 (incl 2x 6.0 high output batteries but no charger)
Darnit, I’ve been waiting for this one. I was hoping it would be the package with the packout box since I dove balls deep into that system recently, but this price is too good to pass up. I found a videos showing how the saw fits in the ammo can packout. The tracks, even generic, are expensive. Apparently this saw works with all the generic tracks except for the locking tab, so I’ll try the Wen or Powertec tracks.

Been looking for one of these...
I saw a review on the M18 vs the new M12, the reviewer much preferred the M12 and suggested the M18 was just average.

The Wen tracks are great, as is their price.
Pretty sure they work with the anti-tilt lock, too. (I never use it, but I think I tested it.)

If you are really picky about straight, HD makes it really easy to order 2 sets (4 pieces) and return 1 set. Odds are very high you can get two really straight pieces of track that way.
BTW, it's not just Wen, Festool & Milwaukee both sell a lot of slightly curved track, too. (Off by 1-2mm/m).

Here's another option for the track saw, as it just started on BMSM today. You need to order $1000 to get the $400 off. However, if you do just hit right at $1000, the track saw would be ~$240. So the decision is, are 2 6ah HO worth $140?

I don't want to delve to much in the review space, but were they comparing the M12 Fuel to the brushed M18 or the new M18 Fuel? I don't have the M12 orbital, but I do have the M12 detail sander, and hands down thought it was much more efficient that the M18 (brushed).
The M18 Fuel orbital is very new, sort of surprised its on promo already, and would be dumbfounded if the M18 Fuel was "average."

1" Impact + 2x 6ah batteries for $509 is great price. The impact with BMSM, would be $480. $30 for the 2 batteries is a no-brainer there.

ACME tools just put out their new team red promo email. Anyone else think the buy more save more thing is getting a little bit pointless unless you are buying a LOT of stuff all at once?

I didn’t see much on the BMSM promo I need to get up to the $1000 amount. I’ve also spent more than I should recently on tool “deals”. I don’t need the 6.0 batteries, but think I can sell them for ~$140.

It was the new model. He’s mainly reviewing the new M12 6” sanders but touches on the new M18 starting at 12:48. I was also surprised as I love the old M18 sander.

Generally I agree. I used it at Home Depot for the packouts I bought recently. The items all show a max return value of the discounted price, so it’s hackable to do some returns and just end up with what you want for the max discount. I may have a couple extra packout pieces I don’t end up needing and would return.

I sold most of my packout. I think the only packout I'm interested is the 3 and 4 drawer packout shelves and I'm starting to question that. I think I can get more space efficient storage for cheaper at the same or better quality bar. I'm not hauling my stuff around to remote locations, its all in the shop organization. On top of that, the stupid 2 unit shelf doesn't come with long enough e-track to mount 2 of the packout drawer units so I have to buy other etrack to mount the shelf to. I WANT to love packout and I probably would if I was toting it around but in the shop its not making sense like I'd hoped it would.

In other news, HD has a couple deals on the insider ratchet today. Another tool I want to love but I'm waiting for a bit more info from the early adopters before I jump in on one.

Haven't watched the video yet and I don't own one, but one of my newer YT subscriptions likes it and put out a review video earlier today.

If anyone wants to grab the insider ratchet you can get it with a returnable battery here:

There was also a special buy today for 250 with the battery but not returnable, but its out of stock now.

I had forgotten that Milwaukee was now shipping the locking inserts with the ratchet, that was one of the things that kept me from buying it. This promo should be around for a bit so I'm gonna think about it because to be honest, I've never really liked powered ratchets other that the RA impacts. I think I need to try one out sometime.

I picked up the three drawer unit, deep organizer, and two medium boxes today, $403 or something for the BMSM. I’m moving towards doing a remote service business as a side or maybe primary hustle, so I want to be able to grab and go. I think Makita has the most interesting packout product, especially the long toolbox designed to more easily load in a pickup.

Does anyone know if the Milwaukee Forge battery deal (12 ah at $259 plus a free 8ah) is no longer available at Home Depot? I thought it was on until mid-Feb. but I can’t find it anywhere. Tia, JimDon

If you haven't seen it, Milwaukee makes one like that.

I have, but I wasn’t impressed. The Makita is a much more interesting design. The handle coming from the bottom with cleats to grab a tailgate for easier one person loading and unloading, the lid opening to either side, the ability to add another box over the handle, etc.

A guy I work with has one and loves it. He mostly uses it with the 1/4 & 3/8 inserts, the older ones at that.

I've kinda been waiting on a deal for one of these, so ordered it.

Plus I sold my long reach 3/8 to another co-worker...

HD special buy of the day today is certainly special. I'm not sure I've ever seen the vacuum pump on sale. They have it on sale with a few different tools so there are some options. I WANT to buy it. I am gonna be doing an R12 to R134a conversion on my friend's Lincoln next month but I can also rent a crappy/good enough pump from autozone for free. Has anyone used one of these pumps before? I was actually considering buying a MasterCool pump for about 1/2 this price since all my car HVAC stuff is MasterCool anyways. Also I could get a 6CFM MasterCool for about 1/2 the price of this kit but it wouldn't come with a sheetmetal sheer which I've also kinda been wanting but never jumped on. I'm thinking the juice isn't worth the squeeze on this one. Also I just realized its only an 80 dollar savings. Maybe if I could stack it with the buy more save more somehow?

Unless you do enough AC work in the field away from convenient power sources to justify the premium price for the battery tool, I would buy the mastercool or similar 120V pump.

$10 per AH on a six pack of the 6.0 batteries. If you happen to need that many at once it’s a good deal.

Good price for sure. The 6.0 batteries strike me as odd though. They're physically the same size as the 8.0s, so other than possibly cost, I'm unsure what their purpose is.

Different internal construction. The 8.0 HO batteries are notoriously fragile with a high failure rate.
These (and the CP3.0HO for small form factor) are probably the best non-Forge batteries Milwaukee offers.
Definitely the best bang for the buck for now, they're probably starting to phase them out in favor of the Forge batteries.

Nice work! I miss having the company AMEX and doing some 5 figure Home Depot and Zoro orders.
Right!, I love spending OPM 😈

Ya this one wasn’t personal. However those five inch grinders just might find their way into mine and my superintendents stuff and our 4.5’s handed off to the three guys I hired over the past week.

The real score here is 9-5amp'rs and 21-6ampr's.

I gotta admit Mitch, I had to look up befrugal...In had no idear such a thing existed.

But I do now.. :spit:

That'll come in handy over the next couple of months. I'm trying to bring on another 6-8 guys within the next 6mo. Gonna be an extra busy boy for the next three years without our typical project load.

You ready to come back to the desert?. :p123
