I do when its critical to the project schedule. I'll make tool assignments so I KNOW whomever is doing whatever is equipped to perform the task without excuse. Then if the guy works out, I let them keep them. Been doing it like this since the late 90's with employee's and its always been a win/win. Granted this is for the typical stuff like drills/impact/sawzalls - limited batteries, I look at those like a consumable. Not the more expensive items like deep portabands, hammer drills, etc those are assigned to the project.

Yeah, it's a pretty good price. Comes to around $250 for the bare saw.
Unless you really want that XL Packout kit, but for me the XL Packout is too big to be useful.
The saw will fit in a packout ammo box or a systainer.
Same deal as earlier this month. I was able to stack it with a .mil discount by having my old man order it on his account, saved another 10%.Is this a good deal on the track saw?
I modified a packout ammo box to fit the saw. It does bow the side a little but works fine. I can’t see why I would want that giant XL box for the saw.

I work industrial maintenance for a multi-national corporation. It's almost impossible to get those for our department, forget about anything for the employee. When contractors come in to do the work we've done in the past they almost always get brand new power tools. When we request some items for the shop I've seen them bring chinese junk from homedepot or even harbor freight. Has really gone downhill over the last 30 yrs. Had an old 14.4V NiCad sawzall die and it took months to get it replaced. Was getting push back because a 18v was not a direct replacement, was even asked if could get repaired.
Well don't think for one second I don't work for the same kind of penny pinchers. The first major contract I landed out here in 2019 was a $20M retrofit. My boss at the time set the tool budget at $10K. After the first couple of days watching how our hard side guys were going about their job I asked why??. So I dropped $30K on some stuff, developed some very specialized pieces of equipment and handed a slew of new tools and introduced different methods to do their tasks.
A couple months goes by and my boss calls and chews my *** for 20 minutes about blowing the tool budget. I waited till he finally took a breath and told him to check my labor burden numbers. Sheepishly he tells me I'm at $.33 on the dollar to which I informed him by the next billing cycle we'd be at $.25 on the dollar..........he STFU.
A couple of those pieces of equipment changed our industry and this company made millions off of them over the next few years. And beyond the labor burden numbers, it increased our safety margin by 95%. and ended all the foot and ankle injuries with just one invention.
For those that might ask, it was a hydraulic door cart to grab, pick up and layover or rack into dedicated material carts steel doors that weighed from 300-500lbs ea, ending the three monkeys fn a football way of manhandling them - "the way they've always done it"
To put a bow in this, no one gives me **** about what I spend on tools.

Not really a discussion for here in the deal section, but 8 and 12 amp high output batteries have been known to lose their capacity prematurely. It has to do with cell balancing, which you can Google and will get plenty of results on the topic.
Unfortunately I watched a video recently that shows the new Forge batteries not implementing proper cell balancing either.
I try to routinely charge my batteries on the regular charger over night, but do still utilize fast chargers other times.
I included the deals in my post, to sort of get around posting a discussion reply to your post.

I think it’s relevant discussion to whether or not something is a deal, and is generally helpful in making purchasing decisions. Makes sense as I’ve warrantied 3 12ah from my mower and have a current 8ah that’s dead that came with my polisher.
Well since I ran this thread off the rail, I suppose I could make up for it with today’s prices. The batteries everyone already knew about. But the die grinder and 5amp battery is the best deal I’ve seen yet.

I have a lot of Milwaukee tools, this is the only one that's been a total disappointment.
I'll second this. Do not rely on Home depot to keep it in " your purchases" on your account. Evidently they scrub them after two years. I'm having issues with my 12 ah battery and thought i could look it up on my account with them. Luckily i moved and saved the email when i bought it with the chain saw 2 years ago,. ***** because I didn't use that battery much as I didn't want to wear it down when I had others. Hopefully someone will come up with a 120ac to 18 volt converter to slide onto the tools for down the road when all the batteries die.

I bought one on the deal today. I’ve only used the Gen 1 for the past few years, so it should be an improvement. I like the look of those M12 6” body work sanders, but I can’t justify the cost and they really need dust collection all the time.

The free battery is "out of stock", so it won't work. Generally you'd have to click on that empty box that says free under it, at the top right and select an item (battery). Then in check out, the items will appear like 2 posts above yours, with the prices discounted to the same price as the light alone.
