Is there an in store combo deal on one of these lantern lights where I can return the battery?
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwauk...18-3-0Ah-Battery-2144-20-48-11-1828/305879871

I need something to take with me into the attic and crawl space of my house when I'm running network cable or romex that can light the area up for me and I like the 360 lighting this little guy provides. If not, I'll just wait for the new promos at the end of this month or whenever they come out.
I find that only one of my local HD's carries all of the online promotions in store. You'll have to look around.

I got two a few weeks ago at $149 plus a bonus 5.0ah starter kit plus the 10% military discount AND the 11% matching Menards rebate.

YMMV

Wow, that is a seriously nice score right there. I tried to buy one yesterday with the starter kit but the promo for that with those lantern lights is apparently over. I was however able to get the rocket light with the battery kit.

I used the rocket light this morning to replace 2 light fixtures in my house and that thing kicks ***. I'm super happy with the rocket light. I thought it would be a bit smaller and I was going to get 2 but I don't see needing more than 1 of those things at a time. The small lantern though, I think I could go for 2 of those for attic/crawl space work.

I'll keep my eyes peeled for more promos on those lanterns.

That was never part of any promo in-store, yet. Milwaukee refers to that style as part of their Radius Lights. I only mention this, as they have actual M12 & M18 lanterns. Much more compact, and give you 180 up to 360deg light output, plus a USB charger. They also have the ability to hang on something much smaller (like conduit), rather than at least the full size radius lights which need closer to a 2x4.

I would much prefer the lantern style for attic/crawl space work, as opposed to any of the radius lights.

I bought the M18 lantern a few months ago and love it. I envisioned using it camping but haven't gone on an outing yet (summer here is sweltering).

I have used it a bunch in the garage though. Just used it the other night under my dad's Tahoe while changing his sway bar links and also works well as a sort of underhood light in that you can hang it from the hood catch and it lights up the engine compartment nicely.

The 180° flood option is nice because as long as your working from behind it you get a ton of light with none in your eyes. I got mine on one of those eBay 15% off everything coupon deals and I am very happy with it for the price.

I just checked the lantern out and man, those things are perfect. I'll probably end up getting 2 of those and I think I can skip the other job site lamp.

Seems like most of the Milwaukee stuff on clearance @ HD is all Fuel. The non-fuel power tools appear to be all discontinued and no longer available. Could this be true everywhere?

I recall seeing a Milwaukee Nailer on clearance at HD last year for $70. Although, still not sure if that was an M18 or Pneumatic. Anyone came across similar item at their local store at that low of a price? I'm trying to not think about it too much, but after picking clearance deals in the last couple of months, I feel I could have done some more research prior to save more on other Milwaukee stuff in the past.

It seems like the norm now, with older stock being cleared at dramatically-reduced prices and newer models coming in at close to MSRP.

ebay bucks: 10% on app, 8% on web site, until the 20th.

got a message on ebay, and there was a banner on the home page.

possibly not for everyone, but worth checking if you do ebay bucks.

cpo: 2728 blower with 5AH battery and older charger, 136$ shipped.

https://www.cpooutlets.com/milwauke...xc5-0-starter-kit/miln2728-21,default,pd.html

[i hate it when they put the window title in the URL. at least amazon lets you delete it.]

Not to mention older Gen1 blower, though I don't mind either

Does anyone have a personal preference in the Milwaukee drill bits? I was looking at the set on HD SBotD, but can't tell if they are supposed to be better than their Titanium coated shockwave bits. The bits on sale, at least in the HD pic, have the older silver band around the shank, rather than red. Though they may not have ever got a new pic if the hits changed.

Going by msrp, I'd say the ones on sale are better?

"Decent Deals" on the older stuff if you didn't already find all that in store months ago marked down to the 03 Level.
Have yet to run across .03 pricing for milwaukee stuff at my local store but I'm not in there daily.

Home Depot is having a one day Milwaukee sale.

https://www.homedepot.com/SpecialBuy/SpecialBuyOfTheDay
The one day sale lists the 2897-22PO at $299, few days ago when I showed the same PN for $280 in the home depot thread it was a ho-hum deal.:dunno:

For the average person would the packout case be more useful than a standard one?

Well I have both and like them. The most of the packouts are deeper and hold more. My mobile packout is full so I am storing cordless tools in the standard cases. But I might start another packout string. Beats all of the flimsy storage out there.

I actually regret investing in them M18 platform because of Milwaukee's roller-coaster pricing... Always feel like I'm getting hosed unless I find something on clearance, and I don't have near enough time to camp out at HD every day waiting for yellow stickers.

It’s definitely mind boggling when finding that something you overpaid for not just two-fold but almost three-fold

Apple for example is selling their flagship phones for almost $1300. Doesn’t make sense at all

There’s a psychology behind consumers nowadays. Companies know how to manipulate pricing and special offers

but the pricing is stable, you dont worry about the rollercoaster there.

if they were really good at it, you would not notice, right?

but you are right. companies are getting more sophisticated and stupider at the some time. google sees me looking up parts for a motorcycle, and then blankets me with ads for new bikes. if i am looking up parts, is it a good guess that i am looking for a new one? it would be smarter to blanket me with ads for jackets and helmets . . . .

you should see how confused amazon gets about things they recommend to me . . . . all because they are doing their research on things i look at, rather than things i save to my cart, or buy.

You can partially beat the rollercoaster by only buying on eBay after the mom&pop grey market sellers have gotten into the game splitting up kits and stockpiling then selling sale items. For example, the bare mid torque has been stable for months at $130-140, and you can wait for an eBay coupon to get a really excellent price.

Once you've done this with a couple tools it gets easy to search for them. You're looking for high volume kit splitters/direct wholesale sellers that are selling out of their home as a small business, not companies like CPO. They are fiercely competitive on pricing once there's decent volume. It normally takes them a few months to get newer tools listed with this volume.

For example, $130 mid torque friction ring. Not a special price on eBay, just the everyday price. Get it with a 15% coupon and it's competitive with the once a year "buy then return parts at home depot" level deals

This is what I’ve been doing. My mid torque friction ring cost me $114 shipped.

I bought mine for $46 locally. According to an HD associate, she said the manager normally doesn't approve such situations, I call that BS. Somehow need to find a way to sound more convincing next time I stumble across a clearance item

Oh yeah? Well I got mine for $13.50

You had a cardboard box? You were lucky. We lived for three months in a brown paper bag.

Well I'm getting tired of waiting for promos on the new 12.0 stuff....thinking of getting the table saw for $440 w the Zoro 20% sale or the 2 battery grinder kit for $460

Should I wait? I don't really have an immediate need for any of this....

I felt bad about missing the CPO 15% deal, the Zoro deal seems great! Pair with 10% cash back right now offered at eBates and you're in a good shape. Let me order mine first though. :)

Correct, they use to have things listed short of full list price then you could get a small disc below normal retail with the coupons. Now all the prices are normal retail and excluded from coupons. Yeah it *****.

It seems eBay is really in trouble or something is not right... I have never seen ebay issue all these coupons to make people buy eBay stuff.. I know that most small time sellers have left eBay, with crazy high fees, scam buyers and PayPal, eBay, taking customer is always right approach, even scammers... EBay used to be buyer beware... Nowadays its seller beware..

August/September is a slow time on ebay. Maybe buying clothes and books for kids soaked up the spending money. I think the coupons are just a seasonal promotion to drive sales.

Others have mentioned, and this coupon would follow suit, that seem to always have an offer right before the quarter is up. Some say its an effort to boost sales, but if this a pattern, then any boost is already anticipated. Though with 15%, that seems like it would negate most fees they take in.

Only time I buy, or especially sell, is when their is an offermaking their fees actually reasonable. Happy to pay full fee if it comes with live auctioneer

Now to find a good deal on a M18 grease Gun
