Thanks to the discussions on this site, was able to score a M12 Multi-Tool for ~$50 by using the free battery trick at HD. I didn't realize the free battery promotion worked in store as last week I wanted a M12 3/8 Ratchet and the HD site listed the tools with the free battery as a separate combo item that shows as not available in store. So I had to order the ratchet and wait almost a week for it to arrive. I really wanted to rotary tool instead of the multi-tool, but for the price I'll give it a shot and see if it's useful.

Also found a few of the M18 1/2" Mid-Torque Impacts on clearance for $150 hiding out up on the overstock shelve, not on the clearance endcap. Kind of annoying though because the other night I was in a different HD looking for the M12 3/8 Hammer Drill for $45 but couldn't find it. The computer in the pro section said the store had 2 in stock, but the employee in the tool section refused to get the ladder and check the overstock shelves because he said if something is on clearance, it always ends up on the endcap. Yeah right....

Those wont last long. Think Toolbarn still has the buy two stubbies at $179 each and get the 2.0/4.0 starter kit for free.

Did you see that toolbarn has none in stock?
Tried ordering the 3/8 stubby and the 1/2 hammer drill with the free starter kit on the 26th of november.[$308.00] from toolbarn.
never got processed.canceled order.
bought the 3/8 stubby from cpo on ebay. $140+tax [$148.40]
bought two 4.0 battery for $74.00 on ebay
bought the hammer drill on ebay for $60.95
everything new all will be here by Monday [$283.35]

Paying full list on tools just to get free items isn't always your best deal.

I found a Milwaukee 3/8" Hammer Drill at one of my Home Depot stores, but the box was badly torn and damaged. I began questioning the integrity of the actual product inside.

I have both the multi-tool and rotary. I used the rotary more. But the multi-tool helped me out of a couple of jams in the past. The ease of working these hand tools with no power cord is worth every pennies, especially when I already have the battery for the m12 circ saw.

My only issue with multi-tool is it is very loud. I have never used any other brand of multi-tool so I cannot compare how loud others are.

I was in HD anyway, buying a few things. I walked by the display with the 269$ drive kit:

https://www.homedepot.com/b/Featured-Products-Tiered-Tool-Milwaukee-Free-Tool/N-5yc1vZclbb

OK, I admit it, I *purposely* walked by the display. there was a freaking huge sign, with the tools stocked under it. the most expensive extra was just sitting there: the 2200 lumen radius light.

so I picked them up. I got a carriage, to make it easier on me (that tool kit weighs more than you think it will).

did the self checkout thing, checked the screen, yep, refund value on the tool kit is 178$, leaving about 95$ for the light.

pay, put it all back in the cart, push it out the door.

I am looking at the stuff, and something is wrong, but it isn't clear to me what it is (this happens to me more than one might think reasonable). then it hits me. the anti-theft hockey puck is still wrapped around the tool kit. I am outside at this point. no alarm has sounded. I turned the carriage around, and went back in. the self checkout person is busy helping someone, but the "regular" check out person right in front of me isn't helping anyone. I explain what happened, show her the receipt (which is still in my hand, I'm going to need it in a few minutes for the return, so I didn't just stash it in my wallet). I mention that I just self checked out with this stuff, and the woman there is helping someone, could she remove the puck for me? she looks things over, and says sure, and removes the puck.

the rest was uneventful. push the carriage out to the truck, put the light and other things I was there for inside, *lock the truck*, and return to the main entrance with the kit still in the carriage.

the returns person is full out. helping the cashier next to her, and helping some droid understand what is going on with something in the "cage" behind her. I put the kit on the counter, and stand patiently, telling her "no problem" when she tells me she will be right with me. after a few minutes (is she the only one in the store with a clue?), she turns to me, scans the receipt (which is sitting on the box), scans the tool, glances at the screen, tells me the refund amount and to sign the widget, my refund will go back to the card, and turns back to the other cashier. I sign, the register prints a receipt, she turns, grabs the receipt, and hands it to me smiling, and thanks me for being patient.

no problem, I tell her, have a good day.

I ordered my stubby from Acme on cyber Monday, but haven't received it yet. Their website order tracking isn't very helpful (just shows me a copy of my order). I emailed their CS Friday but didn't hear anything.

Think it is just OOS or something?

It took about a week to process & ship my orders from them. Little longer for the one since it was out of stock.

Like yours, my order status just shows my order, but no status. I called them yesterday to ask them why my order from back on the 26th hasn't moved yet. They told me they were waiting for the socket set I ordered to come in.

What?

I thought it was illegal to take my money if the item wasn't even in stock. (I know they aren't allowed to charge your credit card, but I paid via paypal.)

They weren't even sure when it was coming in, or sure if it wasn't already in but still processing.

I use paypal fairly often. with some vendors, PayPal puts up a note saying that they will not release funds until told by the vendor that the item has shipped.

check your pp account. it may be that they have not hit it yet. toolup.com told me that they couldn't ship part of my order because PayPal won't let them partially bill the order, nor would they allow toolup to charge for things they had not shipped.

I use PayPal because it seems to protect from vendors going back and charging again, which I have had happed to my credit card in the past.

They charged my cc for something that went backordered. Charge still showing but no movement in two weeks.

The shipping thing just leads to sellers printing a label right away so they get paid. And then shipping it days or weeks later. I’ve seen a couple of us eBay sellers do it. But it’s mainly the ones shipping out of Asia.

They were $99 last week with the same combo, but were sold out of common sizes. I ordered the wrong size, hoping my local supply store will swap me out, otherwise I'll gift it.

The current deal includes an extra 1.5ah battery and charger. So it's not horrible if you missed the first deal.

I ordered a large but I need something more like a large tall. I'm thinking about ordering one of these kits in an XL to see if it fits better.

That's right, that was hoodie only. So this is a decent deal if you are just wanting something heated, and need 2 batteries, which I would recommend.

I guess I figured a 1.5ah was only worth about $15, if you can find anyone that wants them. I have plenty of compact 2s & 3s, that I don't want to make the mistake of grabbing a 1.5 for heated gear.

Is anyone in the market for a KO set? My local rep is running a promo and if I get an extra set he is throwing in a few goodies. I don't need as many as he wants me to buy though. Would pass the savings along if anyone here is interested.

How much per kit? 1/2"-2 or 4"? 10 ton or 6?

I grabbed the 2144 compact radius last night for $95.

This time I didn't even put the light in the truck, I just wheeled my cart outdoors, along the front of the bldg to the returns door and back in. Handed her my receipt and told her I wanted to return only the drill/impact kit. Her only question was "did you use it?" LOL

Anyone used one of the Milwaukee Model # 2438-20 polishers? Do you recommend if so, pros and cons?

Also does anyone know of a good deal on it?

Yes I have a 2438-20. I have mixed feeling about it. It is the only thing out there like it. If you want to skip the rest my quick answer is yes I would buy it again. The size and speed of the little thing is great. So far the biggest thing I’ve used it for is polishing my aluminum snowmobile trailer. Cons - it eats batteries. When really working the tool 5-10 min is about it per battery. Even using the bigger 4 ah batteries. The amount of torque the tool has is limited probably because of the high speed. I think this tool might be a bit better suited if it had a brushless motor or was 18v. Finally the attachments have some weird fine thread metic and pitch to it that I just can’t seem to figure out. So finding attachments for it is limited. On the pro side the meguiares da mini pads are a perfect size for it. Hope that helps you out.

I have the M18 2738. Works great on cars and goes through batteries pretty good. I get about 2-3 hours out of a 9ah. I would think the smaller 12v version would not last very long but would be good for smaller stuff like wheels.

AC Delco makes one but you have to buy separate tools for sanding and polishing speeds. I think one other company distributes what appears to be identical re-branded units.

Ingersoll Rand makes a two speed model like the Milwaukee but as I recall it's slightly slower at both speeds and is also slightly longer and heavier. And obviously M12 is a broader platform.

What I don't recall is if the IR uses the same threads as the M12.

I've got the 2438, I try to only use w 6.0s

Make yourself a 3" Roloc backing pad, the additional surface speed helps TREMENDOUSLY

It would be nice if that came with the Gen3 hammer drill. I'd probably pick it up to have a 2nd Surge lying around. It's easily my favorite impact driver.
What is the surge line? I am not familiar with it.

As other's mention it is quieter than tradtional impact drivers, enough so, that by OSHA standards you don't need hearing protection. I'm just a DIYer, so OSHA has no place in my life, but gives you an idea of the benefit of it.

And with that longer pulse, less impact operation, it operates more smoothly. I use the Milwaukee impact-rated drill bits, and this is only personal opinion, that they do a better job in the Surge impact because of the longer drive.

As a professional Electrician I can tell you that OSHA basically only checks in on public projects, huge commercial commercial projects and even then it's rare. It's just a monolithic bureaucracy that exists only to fine large construction companies. If OSHA standards were actually followed to the letter everything would cost twice as much and take 10x as long.

I work in compliance for a private company, I disagree with your statement at least with regards to General Industry. I’m sorry you work in unsafe environments.
