Whats a good deal on a bare tool midtorque friction ring impact?

You should check all the HD's in your area and see if you can find one of the pin detent kits they were clearancing out at $150. Then you would get a battery charger and a bag for less than I was able to find a bare tool and then just swap the anvil which is REALLY easy and is about $22 on eBay.

Has anyone tried buying the M18 Circular saw kit (2732-21HD) from Home Depot that comes with the extra 12.0 amp battery, and returning the battery back to Home Depot? Was wandering if the "battery trick" discussed earlier on the forum would work, and if so how much of a refund is the 12.0 amp battery worth - i.e. how much would the circular saw kit cost after the 12.00 battery is returned?

Interesting that this is the regular XC6.0 paired with the 12.0, not the new High Output XC6.0 with the larger form factor.

I've sold/handed down most of my 5.0 for HO 6's. I have the chainsaw I prefer 6's them on due to weight, but same power as the 12. I figure if there is the potential for a saw or other tools to work better because of the new HO batteries, I'd rather just have them around, but not deal with the weight of the 12.

I have NEVER bought a battery outright in all my years of Milwaukee tools. They all have either came original to factory offered kits -22, -21's or been additional free xtra add on's with bare tools and kit purchases. In fact just picked up another 4.0 with the $99 brushed cip saw just last month. Another 4.0 was free with the work light which came as a free add on to the original M18 FUEL impact and drill kit A third as an xtra to a compact impact kit, All my M12 2.0's and 4.0XC's came with bare tool purchases. The 9.0 was offered with 2731-20 saw. Cant remember off hand what the 5.0 came with right now I only have the one. Thinking either the tower light or BT speaker oh well

Now $76 seems like a pretty good price on the 48-11-1865. So the million dollar question for me is "what will that HO 6.0 battery do for my 2731 circ saw?"

I have the 9.0 and 5.0 already I use both with the saw. The 9.0AH is bit heavy on it but at least 1-1/2 x more run time than the 5.0.

That's what they are going for on eBay, prior to any coupon. It's a pretty good price seeing as the new retail price is $250 on that. It jumped $30 in retail pricing prior to Thanksgiving due to tariffs, it was $229 before though HD had them at $199 for a month long promo.

I mentioned this info to our purchasing guy, now he's going to reach out to the vendor and see about a better deal, maybe getting batteries included. Might end up with a free one now, as if you save the company money, they typically hook you up.

Prices went up due to tariffs. Never hurts to try, but that $170 price was when the tool was a normal price of $219, now it's new normal is $249

On many afternoons, you will see some 0 transaction sellers offering this for some ridiculously low price of $84 or $85 shipped. Those either fell off the truck or fell off a warehouse shelf or it is just a scam. Sometimes these O sellers mail you an empty box or with some inert weight and then you have to appeal and wait and hope to get a refund. Not worth the risk.

I bought one on ebay in Dec that was about 55$ shipped. (got it with one of the 15% coupons, so it was about 47.50$, which is as good as I have seen them.)

usually, though, they seem to float around 65$, which is likely where they are getting their prices.

in general, I have found that a lot of the time there is more flexibility on the price when you buy more than one, and they have a lot to sell. usually shipping the second battery is almost free, so that allows for some extra room to haggle.

but it is CL, they should assume you are going to haggle on the price, unless they are already being aggressive, which it doesn't appear they are . . . . .

I was in the same boat and ended up grabbing the 2598-22 kit. There are non-fuel kits currently onsale at HD as well.

Thanks. That was one I saw that was tempting - but mainly for the batteries I suppose. Pretty much everything else is just redundant with other, larger tools I already have. But it does seem to be a crazy good price even if it was only for batteries, charger, drill and impact.

I was really hoping to get a 1/4" ratchet to round out my setup but seems that isn't available in most kits.

I'll second this suggestion.

I bought that kit when they were at $169 before the holiday and they have become my go to drill and driver. The driver is every bit as effective for driving screws and lags as my Rigid 18v driver and the drill is great for light duty stuff. I still find myself needing the grab the 18v drill for large holes (2" or so) but that is to be expected. The lightness of them makes them very forgiving and easy to use without the fatigue that an 18v will cause. I wouldn't spend my money on a 1.5AH battery if it were me so the 2.0 and 4.0 in this kit are IMO a better buy unless you really need the rest of the tool in the other kit.

I'm sort of curious to see the receipt. I think you sort of wasted your time with that coupon. Reason being is it took 15% off the battery before it was negated on your receipt, so only $170 was taken off the package price. I'm sort of curious to see the receipt breakdown, as my numbers arent coming out right (close), but may be do to some of your # including tax in the end.

With no extra discounts, through kit should cost $266. 400 * (400/600). I will usually find someone to take 10% off the kit (you don't want any discount on the battery), bringing it to $360, so the kit price would come to $360 * (360/560) = $231. Any discount above $40 on the transaction requires a mgr, so very doable with the right cashier. If you are military (which will actually override the package deal & would result in a total of $540), ask to use 10% taken off just one item, they are usually happy to obliage. If they ask why, explain the package pricing screwiness results in paying more.

Cashier's that I have checked out with before usually. I do try to fill out the survey's so I can say I will give another good review. If you talk to a floor sales person, tell them you were looking at the model below what you want, and tell them it's a bit outside your budget, and if there is anything they could do, like 10% off. But yes, they all can do 10% for the most part, usually they end up scanning a pre-done barcode for the Lowe's movers coupon or do it as a military discount. If they take 10% manually, they are limited to $50, which is fine for the $400 kit deals, but does throw a wrench into the $550 table saw kit.

I think it's more the other way around. You'll use the M12 drill most of the time, and then pull out the M18 when you need to use an 1 1/2" paddle bit, or a big hole saw. My 1st gen M12 fuel drill will handle a 1 1/2" bosch paddle bit, but it needs an XC battery and it can be a bit of a fight.
