Milwaukee Power Tools Deal Permathread

I am a Milwaukee user, have over 15 tools. With that being said the trimmer was ok but I took it back. I now have an EGO and it blows it away. So for yard tools I have stayed with EGO. Everything else I have almost converted to Milwaukee.

I know some will disagree with my opinion but I would venture to guess they have not had them both side by side as I did to see the reasons I picked EGO.

Thanks for the heads up. I might just start with an ego power head, and hedge attachment for now. My Troy bilt trimmer works really well.

I put this in the HD thread, thought I'd put it here too just in case:

M18 Fuel Leaf blower, tool only, model 2724-20

$99 (norm $149).

NOTE: Showed out of stock at my store, but was available to order online. Stopped in to check the store anyway and found a display in the aisle with about 10 on it (part of the spring black Friday sale).

I have the 56V mower, leaf blower, and string trimmer (aka weed eater). Use those on a second piece of property we own. I have the M18 hedge trimmer. The hedge trimmer is absolutely fantastic. The EGO stuff is pretty light duty compared to the gas powered stuff I also have that I use at home most of the time. I can't imagine going down to an 18V source for a string trimmer. But, that M18 hedge trimmer is suprisingly strong.

Guess I'm gonna order the ego power head string trimmer with 5 amp hr batt for $299, and the hedge attachment for another $149. $448 shipped no tax from acme tools. I do really love my Troy built core stuff though.

Then yu should try the m18 string trimmer.. It's as powerful as ego ones, maybe just little less but nothing so significant that yu will notice.. Maybe 10% lower.. I have full line M18... String trimmer, headge trimmer, gen 1 blower which I prefer over gen 2... Newer M18 detachable units are too $$ now and little heavier then older one.
Ergonomics , weight, handle, using it feels more natural and comfort then the ego.

Yu want power, try the echo 58v against gas.. It's damn close..

Yeah, the m18 string trimmer is about as powerful as a low displacement gas trimmer. Hasn't been disappointing at all. Only annoyance was that they have two different string feed designs on the original (and I think yet another on the detachable model). So that makes three different feed mechanisms depending on when you bought, and the one I got is really annoying to reload. I assume I got the older style and it was redesigned.

On one hand you say the Milwaukee is as powerful as the ego, then you say you want gas power, get the ego. Confused.

No.. I said echo... Not ego... Echo is the strongest power of all cordless I have tried.. But way too heavy with the 4ah battery..

Ego is best one if yu don't care about power tool comparability of battery. I use Milwaukee since I have Milwaukee tools... Battery is everything in cordless outdoor power equipment..

Ego is right choice if yu don't have Dewalt, Milwaukee, ryobi power tools.. Simply because of battery availability.

The EGO wins against every competitor on cordless yard tools. Just look at reviews. I love my Milwaukee but you can get into the EGO line cheap during Home Depots Buys of the day. I got my Carbon Fiber shaft / auto wind head trimmer for like 129.99 with 2.5 battery and charger awhile back. I got the blower and 2.5 battery/charger for 99.99. I went in store one day and purchased a returned 5.0 ah battery for $65.00 clearance. All been working great for over a year now.

So, not an outdoor power equipment debate thread. I'm sure there are possible better battery options as Milwaukee is relatively newer to the area, but nor are they even close to bottom of any ranking or review. Mine have done everything I've expected of them, and very well at that.

And yes volts matter, but much more too it. I wouldnt choose a tool just because it's more volts. Milwaukee has been doing just fine with 18 of them.

Mwk deal: Buy M12 Duel SDS+ kit at HD (in-store) get a free M18 Fuel Grinder (2780-20).

The offer is actually for all SDS KITS, where you will get a free grinder. The best savings is the $200 kit and free $180 grinder.

Just received the Hedge trimmer I bought from CPO as reconditioned with 9.0 battery and rapid charger. Tool looks brand new and boy does it do circles over my previous WORX 20 v.

I like buying refurbished/reconditioned stuff. It's like getting something new, except this time you know it was inspected before being shipped to you.

Most of the time it's an unopened return or just overstock, anyway.

Until you get one that dies outside the short warranty and wish you had paid extra for the new one with 5 year warranty. I have bought maybe 4-5 reconditioned over the years and only one has failed but the one failure was enough to motivate me to buy new thereafter. The savings gap has also diminished over time compared to the best sale prices on new stuff.

Word is the Milwaukee string trimmer kit with the 9.0 is down to ~$150
I haven’t seen it in person but I’ve seen pictures of other stores.

Where are these kinds of prices found? I'm actually in the market for a string trimmer and would like to get into the Milwaukee line. My local HD has the string trimmer w/ 9.0AH batt and charger for $290.

Depends where you buy.

Refurbished/remanufactured/recertifed isn't the same as used, even when it is. Unless I picked it up on Ebay, I feel confident stating that nearly all my refurbished stuff has or had a full factory warranty; but I'm not only talking about tools.

If vendors are swapping them without Milwaukee, they may not offer the warranty. You run into a lot of that nowadays, with so many returns happening. If they get the stuff from whatever Milwaukee calls their receiving/certification center, I would imagine some manner of coverage is provided.

Don't forget the little card in the box, either. It may be there for data collection, but if you "register the product for warranty" that's usually good enough. I wouldn't do it for a screwdriver, but if you're buying something really expensive upon which you plan to rely, send in that card.

If you but from a place that "refurbishes" on their own, which is essentially verifying everything is in the box and turns on, then you will have 5yrs of warranty from date of manufacture. These are usually places that buy pallets of returned goods from HD.
Then you have certified refurbished, such as from CPO, that has been through a service center. These have limited warranties, and the serial # has been altered for this purpose, so it is actually limited.

Between the two, I usually go reference refurbished, but not from CPO. I bought a couple items off eBay that were "refurbished," but we're just store returns. Box looked like ****, but tools were fine. One was defective, but I warrantied through Milwaukee and had a new supersawzall in my hand 2 weeks later. I bought the kit for $230 when they had over 100 available at the time, zero now of course

SkinnyG, I PM'd you

I'd be happy to pick up a 9.0 and string trimmer for $150 if anyone sees one..

Have you checked all your local stores for display models? Two of my three locals had the display model still up even though stock showed 0 and all the trimmers for sale were the new version. One store I got it for $159, the other store couldn’t find the battery and charger and offered it for $109

Too late but thanks for sharing!

I think their inventory system was screwy. First they had them this morning. Then out of stock, but then more again when posted again this afternoon by Encye.
I watched the stock close the 2nd time as I was debating getting more 12s, and it went from 119, down to 109, then back up to 128, before I last saw it at 102. That was over the course of an hour maybe, then I walk away for 30 minutes, and now the page doesn't exist. I think if they actually sold out, the page would say so, but its just an error now, making me think they sold more than they should have.

I got in an order last night for the trimmer hedger.... hopefully it doesn't go on backorder. Pretty great deal.

I bought the trimmer only in store for 15% off, and knew online chat couldn't do the same, but she did take 10% off! Now to see about disabling that safety lock.

I thought the promo would be everywhere in April, its only at HD for the spring BF. I would have to think that was an early exclusive, and it will be everywhere in May.... Glad I jumped on it early, had a 10% coupon & 6% back, so was no brainer.

On backorder, but the Pole saw & trimmer kit for $329 is back on Home Depot. HD black friday sale ends tomorrow, but I have no idea how long the Mwk promo will really run.

hedge trimmer promo also on backorder

Hate their in store only coupons.... also seen online only also. They have also changed their coupons where you have to use the HD card. Use to be able to apply GC first, now the whole thing has to go on the card. At least they are sending coupons more frequently.

Safety lock is first thing I do..lol. I will just open it, and bridge the switch. I really bought this for the Hedge trimmer and pole saw in the future. I'm hoping maybe we could hack other attachments to work with the power head.

Well because of this thread, today while at my local Home Depot today I checked to see what they had the line trimmer marked at. It was on clearance for $159 with only the display left. I asked the manager what he would sell it for. It was the trimmer and a 9.0 battery (no charger or paperwork) he asked how $75 sounded and I said sold. Got it home put the dead battery on the charger and oh oh red and green flashing light. Called the manager up and asked if he would swap out the battery, (I was prepared to hear no and just send it back to Milwaukee for replacement.) He said bring the whole unit in and he would swap it out, as he found three more complete sets up in top stock in another isle. I brought in the trimmer and dead battery and he handed me a sealed box with rapid charger included, and said sorry you had to make a trip back. Now that is some customer service.

When the batteries go to long without being charged and completely drain below the point where the charger will recognize, that’s what happens. You need to jump them with a good battery. Positive to positive and negative to negative for 20-30 seconds.

Site is back alive.

Said 98 left.

I scored 2.

Now saying 96 left.

Thanks enyce0!

Coveted these but did not want to spend the big bucks.

Bruce

Got an email from them this morning saying they had "limited supply" and cancelling my order. It is one thing to say back order and make me wait. But to accept the order and payment and then back out of their deal?

Not a good marketing plan for them.
