Last deal I saw was the Surge, drywall gun, 2x2.0s for $199 on a special buy of the day a couple weeks ago, and wasn't available long at all.

After the current promos are over (8/3), the next one includes buying the M12 surge kit @ $199, get a 'free' 2.0 battery, $59 value. Depending on what you are looking for. In testing though, the m12 does not appear to have the same power as the M18.

Not being argumentative, but...

The point was that the pricing on the bill showed the same breakdown of discount on the "bare" tool and the "packaged" battery and the same wording on the returns as my same day purchase of three M12 "starter kits with bonus tool" and I was able to return part of the "promo" for a refund.

Clearly both the "kits" and the "promo" had the same note on return, and the value of each item if returned so HD must be using the same "code" in their internals to generate the exact same ratio and verbiage on the bill.

This showed that I (at a particular HD) was able to buy, get the split pricing and return part which was the question the OP was asking...

I love my sander. Bought it to sand a mahogany deck this last month ,and I put it through the paces. I wouldn't use it with a 9ah as it will probably feel a little off balanced, but I was using 2, 3 HO, and 5's and it just kept going. Granted I haven't used another sander in years to compare, I still wouldn't trade the convenience of only having the vacuum hose attached, which was a must. I picked my sander up for ~$80 and while it will sit for a long time (sort of hopefully) I'm glad I have it.

I'm the opposite. I had the corded version and just picked up the cordless. Used both to sand down my 500sqft cedar deck. It chews through 5.0 batteries and has no balls compared to the corded one.

It's good for light duty quick jobs, not so much for heavy duty or stripping.

I wish I had a more usable corded one then. It seemed like there was something not right about the Metabo, that I got tired of fartin' around trying to figure out. Seems like a tank,

I live in a log house with wood decks and all wood trim inside. I find myself sanding constantly. Don't get me wrong I'm glad I got the cordless one fit convenience sake. Today I took it out and sanded down my mail box post and stained it. Worked perfectly.

Sold out but just a heads up, the Spyder kit with 11 saws (versus Milwaukee's 6) is $119 at Lowes. Actually at my local store they were on sale for $89 about a week ago, but the tag hadn't been changed.

They look somewhat similar quality. I figured for how infrequently I'm going to use carbide-tipped hole saws, they will work pretty well over the Milwaukee's I had planned on getting.

Not sure why, but my HD had the new promo sign up early this week. Went on the same endcap as the previous promo that also ends tomorrow (buy one of two packout kits, get free tool). I get taking the old sign down if maybe you don't have stock, bit this store did, yet the new promo won't ring up until Sunday.

If you can find the 3.0 kit, you might be able to price match International tool at $49.88, probably not, but I have had luck.

The math on the free battery won’t be that generous. If my quick math is right the battery will be worth $45, so the Surge kit will be $155.

Just bought one. Took probably 15 minutes of a couple employees and I searching the stock on the top shelves until we found them. Anyway the return value of the battery was $49.68

I just drove a couple screws and lags to try it out. It was faster and quieter than my m12 gen 1 fuel impact with 3" screws. And it drove a 3/8" lag deeper than the gen 1 could. Though if I was going to do that for real I would grab my stubby which would put both of them to shame.

When they first came out, they were $400 + "free" 12ah. So at HD I got 10% off the saw, bringing it to $360, then the promo brought it to $231. That is the lowest out the door I've seen, aside from a couple unicorn clearance units.

I can't sell a 12ah for more than $145, usually it's around $135.

this bodes well, though, for those battery sets going on sale sometime in the future. usually these things are well accepted here, but that display looked full, with only one battery set missing, at the local store.

Most of the stores I went into didn’t have the 6ah promo displayed, at least for a majority of the promo period. So at least at those stores, and anyone that doesn’t know the history of Milwaukee sales the last three years (cough cough), won’t know any better and think it is a sale.

Depends on the deal, but in this case to drive the price down of the two items you want (not by much mind you, all of $1.85 per $149 item), you want the third item to be the most expensive as possible. If you are keeping only one, buy 2 of the most expensive.

So as for that "Buy 2 get free 2-pack of batteries"....this is my math:

M18 Surge + M18 Jigsaw = $348 w/free batteries (so $348+$149 = $497)

Batteries are worth $149 so 149/497 = 30% off.

So:
- the $149 Surge should price at $104.30
- the $199 Jigsaw will price at $139.30
- $149 batteries price at $104.30
for a total of = $347.90

So buy those two tools + free batteries, and return the jigsaw and batteries and you get the M18 Surge for $104.

I wish it were an M12 Surge! I really want to stick with mostly M12 stuff but $104 isnt a bad deal for that driver.
