Are you able to compare it to a gas chain saw?

I've never found an electric chainsaw that compared to a gas unit. They always seem like toys in comparison. They work well for very light duty use, but not for any serious wood cutting.

I’ve used gas saws in the past, cleaning up after Hurricane Hugo in ‘89. Lots of time behind one. But what I was doing today does not compare to the same thing. I think today about the biggest thing I cut was a 4” trunk, but it went through it like butter. No stalling at all.
If I had a big job ahead of me, I’d be using a gas saw. But I bought this one for cutting down heavy brush, small saplings, limbing trees and general clean up.
Now I do have a hickory by my driveway that is about 6” or more at the trunk that’s coming down in a few weeks if not sooner.

Crazy you couldn't get an axle nut off with a dewalt high torque though. You sure that tool is working correctly and you had it at the highest settings? That should be more than enough to easily pull off even a really rusted axle nut. I've pulled off rusty jeep axle nut with cheap ryobi impact wrenches before no problem. Can't believe a dewalt wouldn't be able to pull one off a car.

Not sure, i was using it with the 4.0 ah dewalt batteries; fully charged. Dewalt has some flexvolt high output red batteries; maybe those are needed to get full power; i assumed its max power at all times.

It was my moment, i was like ok here we go, i'm just going to zip it off, ensure the battery was fully charged...anticipated the satisfaction of telling myself...see right tool for the right job...i was crestfallen..lol

I like the E63 S Wagon. Is yours the old 6.2L or the 5.5L twin turbo or the newer 4.0L twin turbo? I am tempted by the last model with the 5.5L turbo.

The M12 1/4 drive has a slightly smaller head than the 3/8. Also the non fuel models are smaller than the fuel models. I wanted as compact a ratchet as possible so I bought the 1/4 non fuel. I also have the 3/8 fuel but don’t use it as much. There is a big size difference. As someone else pointed out, if you can fit the M12 stubby, you can put it on low power and use it for many projects instead of a ratchet. It impacts but on low power should not do any harm compared to a ratchet if you are careful.

I have the 5.5L, my wife and i tossle over who gets to drive it; we love it...a more complete do anything type of vehicle i can't imagine. We have had it for 3.5 years; put 123,000 kms on it. Endless road trips with the our son; couple times to Florida couple times out to NYC, Nova Scotia, countless trips to Montreal and Detroit, Chicago. Built for the highway, superbly comfortable, and its most comfortable around 100+km/h; it feels at home.

I also broke out my M18 Chainsaw out for the first time this weekend.. I also have a 18" stihl gas saw, but was up in a bucket lift trimming a couple trees. I must say it was impressive. trimmed about 50+ branches off, some up to 8-9" in diameter. I wouldn't use it for felling a large tree, but it has its place.

Picked up the M12 cut off tool today. Final cost was about $84 after I returned the battery.

The M18 grinder was actually cheaper since I used a 10% off coupon along with the purchase.

Used it already to cut 1/4" aluminum channel and some steel straps today. No issues with power or speed, this things a beast. Never stopped once.

I didn't realize how much I would care about the direction switch, being able to change the way the sparks fly is amazing.

What has you unimpressed? Are you pressing down hard against the material?

It handled all of them. The Aluminum I cut was not light nor thin, 1/4" thick Angle 6061-T6 Aluminum is tough stuff. It gums up blades easily and is heavy.

It might not be as fast as my larger grinder but that's not it's use case. It's designed for thinner material but it does thicker or harder stuff, just slowly.

Most of the reviews I have read here are similar to mine. I don’t watch utube much but understand some people there are paid directly or indirectly. I am happy the tool is meeting your needs. For me, it’s convenient for small jobs but not as great as I thought it would be.

Mine did the same thing until I used a bigger battery, with the 6.0 battery it doesn't do it anymore and worked great for what I have used it for so far.

I just tried mine with a Lennox blade that supposedly can make 1000 metal cuts, with 4 and 6 ah batteries and it did better than it has before in 16 gauge stainless. Expensive blade and I won’t get 1000 cuts but maybe makes the saw more effective

Did you try a 6.0 battery? Thats what mine needed to not shut off.

For most, that is all the tool they need (I'd even think about it more, if it weren't for the 6-1/2" saw, all by blades are 7-1/4"). The real deal is if you can find a store to PM to. The kit then will be $310 out the door, that is with returning the 5ah that will be ~$100 on the receipt.

The best deals are the caulk gun (RARELY, if ever seen on DotD), and the superhawg drill

I searched five different HDs for that kit. The picture from the post the other day was shown with a bonus cut-out tool but the SKU and UPC match in-store with the kit in the above link, which does not have a bonus cut-out tool. I know this because I found one on high up on a shelf that matched the SKU and UPC but when I got it down the box was empty.

I don't need the drywall gun or charger but I have been wanting some compact batteries. I am debating whether or not to buy the Special Buy kit at $159 and and then try to sell the drywall gun on CL.

Has anyone seen a better deal, in the last several months, for a kit with two compact m18 batteries where the tool and charger could be parted out? How much are the genuine M18 2.0 batteries going for on eBay lately? Should I just wait for Black Friday to find a better deal on a couple compact M18 batteries?

likely not. they match price, not freebies. You might get lucky, but 95%+ of the time, it isn't happening. It will require a supervisor or manager to take $128.89 off the battery in order to match. If they had the promo with the free battery, but selling for more, then they would adjust.

I feel your pain. I could have picked up the 7.25 circ saw with 12a batt, charger and bag for 240usd in July, but was just tapped the F out on expenses. Checked a few stores, no dice. Bought a refurb that ....drumroll....was missing the battery. I shoulda bought the 240$ one on plastic. Lesson learned.
