To do it online you have to be able to add the normal skus to the cart and get the deal to show up that way. And that usually won't work when they have the custom combo sku for the deal. If you try to return the combo sku in store you'll have to return the whole thing. You could try doing a no receipt return. Which I think leaves you with store credit, I have no idea what the return value for that would be though. If you decide to go that route you'll need a photo ID. And be warned that HD has limits on the number and value of items that can be returned that way. And at some point you'll be banned from doing any more no receipt returns.

thanks man....yeah... I figured... weird thing is all other places like toolnut and what not has special on both 1/2 and 3/8 battery promo...ofcourse no battery return there to make it cheaper...
so looks like 3/8inch for me...got plenty of batteries,,,now to look for nice bang for buck 3/8inch impact socket sets. got the 3/8 makita cheap ones which work pretty good for $15 set which max out at 17mm....need bigger ones for lugnuts and what not....but I do have the big makita monster impact 740 ft/lbs, heavy as hell but damn it gets job done really fast.

They can't ban you from making returns that are within your legal right to do so. There are laws about what stores are required to take back.

There are no laws requiring stores to accept returns, they only have to follow their return policy. All the return policy state they have the right to refuse any return, so there is never a "guarantee" that any store will accept your return.

HD, Lowes, and most other stores will ban you from making returns if you exceed their rules, the risk is their rules are not public and you don't know until you are banned.

At one point, it appeared to be something like 5 no-receipt returns a year or 10 receipt returns a year. Then they started using a third party company that builds a risk model for returns, and most of the stores are using that now. As a result, if you get flagged at HD for example, Lowes, Sears, Amazon and others may not allow returns either.

It does appear that they apply more restrictions to accounts that are "gaming the system", and the returns discussed in this thread could be viewed that way. If it happens enough, it will get their attention and likely result in bans, it's more a question of what is "enough". SYWR periodically bans a lot of accounts for this kind of thing.

Amazon has been closing accounts and banning people for "excessive returns", so the issue of receipt vs no-receipt is not the only issue.

For most people it probably won't be an issue, but it is wise to be aware of the risk and avoid getting anywhere near the limits.

DH3256, like I said, it depends on state law. California for instance doesn't require stores to accept returns but if that store doesn't accept returns the store is required to clearly display that information. If they violate that law, you get 30 days to return it with receipt, by law. I wouldn't claim to know the consumer laws in all 50 states.

https://oag.ca.gov/consumers/general/refunds
"In California, retailers that won’t give a full refund or credit, allow an equal exchange, or any combination of these options, within seven days of purchase when goods are returned with a receipt, must clearly display their policy at each cash register and sales counter, or at each public entrance, or on tags attached to each item sold under the policy, or on the retail seller’s order forms, if any

This requirement does not apply to perishable items (like food or plants), items that are marked as final sale, goods used or damaged after purchase, custom orders, goods not returned with their original packaging, and items that can’t be resold for health reasons.

If a store violates this law (California Civil Code section 1723) by not clearly displaying their limited or no return policy, you can return the purchased item with proof of purchase for a full refund within 30 days. You can notify the consumer protection division of your local district attorney’s office of any violations, or file a complaint with our office using our online complaint form."

I believe, in CA, if a store accepts returns, you have the receipt, are within 7 days of having purchased it and the product is unopened that they have to take it back. It has been a LONG WHILE since I looked into that so I might be remembering wrong though.

The point is, know the laws in your state and understand your rights there in.

If you honestly look at the tool prices for the free tools And their typical deal of the day they aren’t far off from each other I’m sure Home Depot is well aware that sometimes people return the battery or the tool they print the price of each item on the receipt. I’m sure it is mostly like any other sale trying to move old stock or items not selling well and probably counting on a few people not bothering to return it. Plus it is a sale that works for people just joining Milwaukee with all the combo packs and it is a good sale for people who have plenty of batteries. I’m sure the workers that say anything are the same kind that act like coupons come out of their paycheck.

I think that part is the key... in my opinion anyways. The Black Friday buy/return at Home Depot deal is what originally got me to buy my first Milwaukee tools and I haven't bought another brand since. Even if they made $50 less on that one transaction, they also got all the ones after that that they wouldn't have had otherwise.

So for the returns on BoGos (sorry for all the noob questions) if the prices are showing up in your online cart (the current 4a starter kit and get a free tool) does that mean you can do a return just like the store purchases since these arent "combo" kits like other online deals?

Yes, if they show up as separate items with separate prices then you can return the part you don't want.

Post a screenshot of your cart. The items have to show up as individual items each with their own SKU.

That looks right to me. You added each item on their own and the discount showed up in the cart right?

I select "STORE PICKUP" for the item I want, and "SHIP TO HOME" for the item I don't want. As soon as you place the order, go back to it and cancel the "SHIP TO HOME" item.

This is a slick way to do it. I usually just buy in store and return the item. But I usually have to explain it to them and they tend to pushback and not quite understand the process.

I also did it the other way. When they called about picking the rest of the order up, I canceled.

This thread is causing some damage to my wallet.

M18 hackzall + 2x 6.0s coming from Ohio power tool. CA sales tax got me so apparently Ohio power tool must have nexus in CA go figure.

Also got a jigsaw from Home Depot for $99. Returned the 4.0s. Last thing I need is another charger and a bag.

I am looking at the M12Fuel 3/8" Stubby Impact & Ratchet in this kit and it seems like a good deal at $358. I don't have any M12 batteries but have the dual charger - this kit includes the larger batteries but I think I want the compact batteries to provide a smaller tool for access purposes.

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwauk...atteries-2554-20-2557-20-48-11-2412/314319553

I can buy the tools with the 2.0AH compacts for the same price but am now wondering if I would see a drop off in power even at full charge with the smaller battery. Suggestions/Comments?

Planning on the stubby and returning the battery. I'd prefer the buy 2 M12 tools and return the battery two pack but I couldn't see if the tool I wanted was on the list for the promotion.

Anyone know if the M12 Fuel Oscillating tool is part of it? Or is this online only

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwauk...12-2-0Ah-Battery-2526-20-48-11-2420/314317560

Individual skus isn't working for the deal

From this pic posted earlier in the thread, doesnt look like the the OMT is part of the promotion?

It is being run as a separate promotion. At the front in the holiday deals not with the m12 display. It’s $150 with free 2.0 (returnable for about $50).

Correction on my part, the deal is indeed in stores as well. Picture attached.

Couldn't pass up on the omt upgrade. I hated the m18 version. I used it extensively recently on a bathroom remodel and it got so hot that I couldn't hold it without gloves. Vibrated like crazy too.

Just ordered two 6.0 HO M18 batteries from Ohiopowertool and got the free router. $193 after tax, free shipping but back-ordered. We'll see how long it takes.

I've been wanting some HO batteries so good deal for me.

Other than the Stubby/battery return combo I'm done for the year......unless a better packout deal comes out.

So with the return of the battery pack how much are you paying for the m12 OMT?

I just order the M18 OMT for 100 with battery from HD.. Are you saying the m12 is the better?

Where are you getting the stubby from?

According to my receipt
M12 2.O BATT 64.97 MAX REFUND VALUE $45.24

After taxes I should have paid around $115.68 for the M12 OMT. Already got someone that wants to buy my M18 for $80 so it cost me $35 ish to "upgrade"

Yes, the Fuel M12 is better than the non-fuel M18 by leaps and bounds. Non scientific test but I tried them both out side by side earlier. Swapping the same blade between the two the M12 cut through an 2x4in less than half the time it took the M18. I'm sure there are videos on youtube demonstrating this.

My main gripe with the M18 is vibration and heat. I used it to cut out a fiberglass shower stall last month and it got so hot that I had to stop multiple times. I ended up grabbing thicker gloves. I was using fresh blades too. This was cutting silicone, wood, fiberglass, drywall.

I also like that the M12's battery isn't slanted, I can put a XC battery on it and stand it up, unlike the M18

Really depends on your needs.

I have 3 rapid chargers already, tons of batteries and a lot of the tools that are included in the deal except for the router.

But I have no HO batteries. My original plan was to grab the $199 Router deal and return the batteries, sure I save a bit of money over the $179 deal but two 6.0 Batteries for effectively $79 is a really good deal and I really could use the HO. I currently use 5.0/9.0's on my fuel grinder and I'm always having to swap due to heat concerns.

Gonna dump some of my older 3.0/4.0 batteries on offerup to help offset the cost.

I sold an unopened 2 pack of 6.0 batteries for $120 on Craigslist last month, so ai would buy batteries.

How good is the router? I have some home improvement projects coming up, I don’t need it but that never stopped me from buying tools.

I can confirm that if you purchase the M12 Stubby 1/2" deal online (which is not available in any store, at least here), you can NOT return the battery to the store. This is because it is not listed as a separate line item on the invoice. I may have been able to push harder and return it for store credit or something like that but it wasn't worth it; I can just gift the battery during Christmas.

$101. M12 will have less vibration than older m12/m18 models. Can't comment on cut speed. But the fuel m18 will be bigger than the m13 of course, and the m12 has a great feel already

thanks guys. $103.76 after battery return for the M12 2526 fuel multi tool: 149 * (149 / (149 + 64.97)) = $103.76. I think $101 would have been before the M12 2.0 went on a small sale to $64.97 from $69
