I thought it was through most of December.

However, they have throttled back online availability of at least the 2x 4.0ah/bag/charger kit. So it is a little more effort to close some deals.

Anyone know if an in-store purchase of these free-tool deals will ring up automatically? Or do you have to go through a luxurious conversation with store staff?

Further, how much ID do they ask for if you're paying cash and returning in-store?

Assuming you have the receipt, NONE. Your receipt for a cash sale is your ID....as far as their system is concerned

I have always had them demand an ID for any returns, cash or credit. When I suggested their policy was discriminatory against US citizens they told me the policy is universal and also accepts a Mexico ID.

Interesting. I just did a cash return literally a few days ago on pro-rated Milwaukee items (2131 rocket light and 8.0) and they didn't bat an eye. Just handed me cash back. And it's been this way over several other transactions in years gone by.

Ditto for card transactions if I have a receipt.

The only time they ever ask for ID is if it's a no-receipt return for store credit.

Not every worker at every HD follows policy. They may know you and think they can skip that step or they are just not following procedure.

Inside information indicates an update to the register system will require them to enter ID number to complete the return, but that update may not have been pushed out to your area yet.

I've returned many items across many years at Home Depot with a receipt on a cash sale and have never been asked for ID.

It depends on area and which stores, the stores that are getting hit hard by theft/crime in their neighborhood have to be tougher. Its not hard for employees to understand when they're seeing it for themselves first hand. Sadly, in some spots theft has been so rampant and they're doing everything they can just to slow it down, not stop it. Dont expect a Laissez-faire attitude in those stores and has nothing to do about you or being discriminate unless that particular employee uses it when he shouldn't.

Generally, you don't have to show ID if you have receipt especially if its being credited back to a card, same with cash with a receipt, they may ask you for name, usually just a phone number and maybe sign something (depends which state/laws) but trying to return something for cash without receipt, then yeah expect to be asked for an ID and asked some questions and info and most likely will receive a gift card for the amount. Which personally I don't see what the big deal is and not discriminate. Be thankful that the company even accepts a return without proof and places cold hard cash in your hands. Thats a goldmine attitude for thieves and asking for ID to reduce multiple episodes from same thief, it doesn't stop it. Milwaukee Power Tools are high theft items, like a Ford T truck or a Honda.

In a Florida HD where I was working out of, there were dudes hunting for dropped receipts in the parking lot, even asking for people walking out the store for them, once they got them, they would try to grab a matching item on receipt, walk around and try to get cash for it by saying there returning it even if a credit card was used. I'm guessing a lot of legit buyers unknowingly got purchases credit back to them when cashier didn't hand out cash. There they started asking everyone for ID for returns when they realized what was happening. But there's less reason for a store who is having low theft track record to be as strict (ebb & flow).

I think it's a very fair request to show ID if you're asking a company having theft issues ignorer to give you cold hard cash coming out of their hands and into yours.

Do you have a HD card. I have a HD card and have never had to use ID.

Only when I don't have a receipt

No HD or other store brand credit cards for me. They have no problem looking up my order with my regular credit card and still asked for ID each time. I did a couple return the promo item deals in September and October where I walked out to the truck and then right to returns within 5 minutes of the transaction.

Apologies if this has already been discussed, HD has the M12 ¼” surge hex, 4.0 battery, charger and bag for $129. I assume this is a good deal?

Hd, zoro, and a few others have the 2732 circular saw at 249$, with free 8.0. not sure that I've seen a deal better than that, so I pulled the trigger.

Toolup.com has a bunch of m12 tools that come with (2) 2.0, charger and 15 inch pack out bag for basically the bare tool price. Some examples are:
M12 surge,fuel hackzall, fuel omt-169
1/2 ratchet, 3/8 stubby for 200

Wish I had the cash for the surge

I think the HD surge deal is better. The toolup looks like a1.5 and a 2.0, not two 2.0s.

The bag looks nicer with the toolup deal though. Not sure what that's worth. It would probably just end up on my giant mountain of ugly tool bags that I need to give to goodwill.

Milwaukee SDS Max Demolition Hammer (and drill) 5446-21

$326 on eBay (usually $650+ online).

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Milwaukee-...ion-Hammer-Certified-Refurbished/392327739269

I plan to use it for my 4" core bit from Bosch to drill drainage holes through concrete. One reviewer said it was not a rotary, only demolition hammer, but the manual at manufacturer's site confirmed it does work with percussion bits, core bits, and chisels.

There is a stronger version (15 amp vs 14) with model 5546, and the rotation specs are a bit slower for the newer model.

Im not in the packout system, so the bag deal isnt appealing to me. For the ToolUp price, could spend $9 more and get the HD deal with 4.0 and get the 2 2.0 deal for $49 from ToolUp. Ill take batteries over the bag

I have the M18 grease gun which I hardly use and is in great shape. I'm just getting into the M18 line and I could easily buy the M12 grease gun, get a bag, another battery, and a charger for it for $129. Then turn around and sell my M18 grease gun as a bare tool for the same price, if not more. So tempting.

I've never used the M12 so I'm not sure if I would miss the features of the M18.

Yeah, if you sell the XC 4.0 for $40+ its $90 for the tool which is great. Luckily I had a 15% coupon and finally got the M12 Surge, I would of even bought without the coupon.

Apologies if this has already been discussed, HD has the M12 ¼” surge hex, 4.0 battery, charger and bag for $129. I assume this is a good deal?

I took the plunge and ordered the M12 grease gun today. I have been eyeballing it fir a couple years. I might try and sell the battery and charger to lower the price of the tool. I hear it’s awesome and plenty of pressure for the small car/truck stuff I do. Defiantly official that I have spent way too much on tools this year. Need to take a step back.

I also spent way too much this year. I feel like the November month specials were very good this year but cyber Monday was a bit weak

Finally found my deal!

1/2" high torque impact with battery & charger. $269

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwauk...ng-Kit-w-One-5-0Ah-Battery-2863-21P/314250371

I have one at work and ordered a 2nd one yesterday for home yesterday. I gave up my medium one for work.

I ended up buying this M18 polisher with 8.0 battery combo last night. I just moved to Cape Cod and will have boats again, so I figured one of these cordless polishers would be a luxury. Seems like a decent deal with the included 8.0 for $279.

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwauk...XC-8-0Ah-Battery-2738-20-48-11-1880/314327880

I have one and it does a great job. It does eat batteries though so make sure you have some bigger ones charged when using.

Thanks. Damn, that didn’t last long. 6:34 AM EST and already sold out. All of the M18 deals with the 12.0 and 8.0 batteries are already gone.

Honestly, the chainsaw wasn't that great of a deal. Northern Tool has had the 12.0 and 8.0 combo in-stock for $179 after coupon multiple times this month. Chainsaw's regular price is $249 at the Depot. So about what you could've gotten this Special Buy for all month long.

Not sure that I'm ever going to bother ordering from Ohio power tools again. It's been a month now and no tracking or updates from the 2 battery and router combo
