For that price you are almost better off waiting for a package deal (like with the M18 chainsaw). A good deal tends to be $10 per m18 amp hour pre-tax/shipping.

The battery deals this year are definitely fewer and further between.

Yeah, that's how I got my current 12.0, is with the chainsaw purchase this spring (came with a free 8.0 too). I was thinking about adding another so I don't have to rely on the 8.0 while the 12.0 is charging.

Lots of things are few and far between these days... :(

Is this a decent deal on the m12 fuel multi tool? The 20 pc kit is listed at $50 on it's own, seems ok to me.
I would love to see another M12 drill/driver with free tool promotion right about now.

I paid 120 for the M12 fuel multitool (bare tool) from HD last year and it came with a free 2.0 promo battery. That was back then however and prices have gone up quite a bit. I wouldn't say this is a terrible deal but I wouldn't call it hot.

Milwaukee's Chainsaw has now gone up to $500 with battery. That's outrageous! The DeWalt FlexVolt cuts better and is only $350 with 3 ah (60 Volts) battery.

Yes, all prices are on the rise, but the Holiday Deals this year from Milwaukee have been few, compared to DeWalt. No way I would pay $500 for a sub par Battery Powered Chainsaw. Concord Carpenter performed a thorough testing of chainsaws and Milwaukee was rated near the bottom. These are probably the best Milwaukee Deals I have found that's still active. Hopefully more deals after the new year.

Perhaps it's because Milwaukee doesn't need any help selling their stuff right now...

Is this the video you’re referring to where the “sub par” Milwaukee chain saw is “rated near the bottom” while actually tying for 3rd out of 12 chain saws?

I didn’t watch yet, but we have both the greenworks and the Milwaukee (just got it a couple weeks ago) out at the cabin, and the Milwaukee is hands down WAY better than the green works saw. Both 16”, the Milwaukee has tons more power, cuts better, and has better battery life (and we don’t have the biggest M18 battery yet, either).

That’s my N of 1 subjective view, I really like the Milwaukee saw. I want to get one for here at home, too.

Unfortunately the Greenworks would be considered more homeowner grade, and I would guess the Milwaukee performed better.

I love most of my Milwaukee tools, and have the chainsaw, but do wish there was a little more too it, and I don't mean in the extra large housing that prevents it fitting in most saw cases. I have the Ego 18" and do prefer that. Milwaukee is going to need to release a gen2, not a 14" bar that anyone can do with a little brain, to get me to "love" it. Its more a convenience of similar batteries at this point

Has anyone done a good comparison of the Milwaukee to any gas-powered chainsaws, or is that not worth doing?

Did you watch the video? The lower the number the better the saw in their results.
Admittedly no, I didn’t watch the video - I found it after trying to Google who “Concord Carpenter” was. He’s entitled to his opinion, but the four 70’ tall/24“ diameter maple trees that I felled and bucked on my property with nothing but my M18 chainsaw and a log jack would beg to disagree with any evaluation of this chain saw as “sub par.”

If you watch the video they'll say there's not a bad saw in the test. There's no reason to be displeased with the M18. Some are better options for some folks based on batteries they may have or at which price point they'd like to be. Project Farm also tested a bunch of electric saws a few weeks ago. I have zero need for an electric chainsaw but if I was buying one I recall that the Dewalt seemed like the best overall option when considering price and performance.

My M18 chainsaw performed well in the October Nor’easter storm this year in MA. I took down a bunch of trees and chopped up the logs without issue using a 8.0 battery. The biggest logs I had were about 12”, the saw didn’t hesitate. The only thing I found sub par was my own fault, when plunging the saw into a full dump trailer to break down the pile I had the chain pull off a couple times.

Milwaukee put out a video when the M18 saw first came out comparing it to a Stihl MS170.
I have a MS180 and MS261c and then the M12 hatchet. Don’t have the M18 saw to compare though.

It’s not worth doing, they are different use cases. For serious work, you simply cannot get around the energy density of fossil fuels and that’s not even counting factors like battery degradation due to the cold, battery cost, charge time, etc.

Bought the same tool last week as a Special Buy without the blades at $179. I missed the lower ($210) price and the set above was $229 ,which is the same as if I were to buy the blades separate. I've got a lot of blades/scrapers via Amazon so I passed on the Milwaukee ones. I'd venture a guess they are pretty good blades.

Any of y'all know if CPO is not going to carry Milwaukee anymore? They are listing a bunch of stuff on sale but there is no other mention of Milwaukee under their brands anymore.

Noticed this today too and found it very surprising. I wonder what the story is. The site just says "Please note: We are not carrying Milwaukee products at this time. We apologize for any inconvenience."

I thought CPO went way downhill a few years ago. I used to buy stuff from them but cannot remember the last time.

I bought from them several times over the last couple of years and never had any issues. I'm not sure if the will be selling Milwaukee again but I can tell you they don't right now. They took down the cpomilwaukee website and redirected it to their main site with a message saying they currently don't sell Milwaukee tools.

I wonder if it is supply chain issues, I have seen a ton of out of stock notices or just general lack of inventory in brick and mortar stores.

I was told from my AC guy that Home Depot signed a deal with Milwaukee that makes them exclusive. He said most of the mail order only outfits won't be selling Milwaukee anymore. His info came from his Brother In-law who works for CPO. Probably won't see to many good deals on Milwaukee anymore.

Say what now? That would be an odd choice. There are a TON of retailers that sell big red all across the country. I mean, I'd believe it but it would be a little strange. Home Depot let Simpson ties go to Lowes so it feels a little odd to get aggressive with a tool brand like that. Maybe that is exactly why? Maybe they realized they screwed up with Simpson and wanted to really lock in big red? Ryobi and Rigid are both TTI along with Milwaukee and Rigid is HD's house/exclusive brand already. Does HD need 2 exclusive tool brands? Maybe it was something from the TTI side?

Just noticed the Milwaukee note over on CPO tools, that stinks. I checked Acme Tools and Ohio Power tools and Big Red is alive and well on those sites. It'd be an odd strategy for Milwaukee to go exclusive with Home Depot. They are by far the most popular power tool brand displayed in the trade-specific supply houses, Plumbing, Electrical, Etc. (at least around here) that I can't believe they'd leave the "real professionals" high and dry. I guess time will tell.

My theory is that CPO got busted for violating some sort of MAP pricing rule from Milwaukee, and they got dropped as an authorized retailer…

Seems the most plausible. The irony is that I haven't found many great deals at CPO. Home Depot has definitely been much better. Guessing 60% of my Milwaukee stuff has been deals from Home Depot.

So, does it become just another exclusive house brand? That doesn't neccessarily speak well to the future of any brand.

I 3D printed a stubby nozzle for the M18 Blower. Makes it even better for blowing off a just washed car.

Found the design on https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5141506

I got to get myself a 3D printer but just really don't want to go down another Rabbit hole.
How much time and effort does it take to get a printer setup and running properly? I imagine your always fiddling and making adjustments. Are most files free if not what is the average cost?

3D printers are a bit of a rabbit hole but if you are willing to make an investment in time and money, you can get a 3D printer that will print reliably and doesn't have the hugest learning curve. IMO if you buy a good printer and go through the process of setting everything up right the first time, they run without much problem or tinkering at all. The initial time investment to first print however is large. You have to learn about the different software and how to make it all play with your hardware. If you plan on doing projects where you think you will need to fabricate brackets and spacers, a 3D printer is great for that. The other thing is that people expect them to be fast because the community of 3D printers at large always talk about things being fast in their videos. They aren't fast. There are printers that are fast compared to other printers but IMO, 3D printers are VERY slow. Many of my prints for things have taken 4-8 hours and I have a fairly "fast" printer. Still being able to download free 3D models from thingverse or yeggi and print them out to solve house hold problems is totally awesome. I highly recommend it as a tool but I've very against it as a hobby unless you have TONS of free time you need to burn up.
