Has anyone actually seen a battery for this pricing. Seems to be about $20/ah advertised.

On a battery theme, anyone know if the 5ah XC batteries power the M18 blower acceptably?
He is talking about what you should be paying after promos or buying on 2nd hand market, not retail pricing. But that applies to non-HO batteries right now. The HO's have jumped up a bit. Closer to $15 an amp hour, even $16-17 looking at current 12ah prices

No problems running the M18 blower to clean up after yard work. Get good performance with either M18 XC 4-6 Ah or Dewalt 4-6 Ah / Ridgid 4 Ah with respective battery adapters.

For light duty brief work, yes. For serious work, preferably use a 12AH for longer runtime. On the high speed at full power, might get about 15 minutes from a 12AH.

I believe he is referring to other channels then retail. I have sold batteries in this price range. 10-12 per amp hour .
Mostly older 5.0 batteries and M12

I have two 5ah batteries and it works well but I have two 6ah batteries on the way that are coming with a free hacksaw. I’m looking forward to trying them out on the blower and my 2gal vac.

If you are paying retail on the batteries you are doing the Milwaukee deals wrong. As a rule of thumb I have never bought official Milwaukee batteries on a standalone basis always as part of package aiming for a 30% + discount. Much cheaper this way long term if you want a battery collection.

This is how I have acquired all my batteries so far, just kept hearing the $10/ah thrown around and never understood where these lower prices actually where.

It works on a 5 for light homeowner work. An 8 is nicer, of course.

When you see the right tool+bigger batt deal in the future, jump on it.

The m18 fuel hacksaw with 2 6ah batteries was $220. So in my head, I figured I paid 100 for the hacksaw (usually 120-140) and 60/battery. That would work out to $10/ah. I agree, you have to buy batteries in a package deal or they are about $25-30/ah.

That's why I picked up the 4 pack of 6.0s for $309, just under $13/ah.

M18 FUEL GEN-3 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 3/8 in. Compact Impact Wrench with (2) 6.0 Ah Batteries & Charger- $270

This seems like a pretty good deal, yah? I've already got the Fuel Surge 1/4" hex, and the 1/2" mid-torque, but the 3/8 impact seems like it would still fill a useful niche working on my Miata. I am definitely in need of some batteries since I first bought into the platform 4 years ago and half of my batteries are now dead...

Depending upon your needs/purpose the Gen 3 M18 impact wrench is rated 250 ft-lb similar to the stubby M12. IMO the Gen 2 M18 is the better mid-torque impact wrench.

Havent bought any M12 in awhile but would like a second straight die grinder (2486-20). Have been looking and seems Summit at $189 and you get $30 for future purchase is best "deal". I searched this thread but didn't see any recent postings and was curious if anyone has seen a better recent deal. I bought current one a few years ago for $150 shipped so summit price seems pretty good considering all things.

For the die grinders I think the HD special deal packages are the way to go if you can be patient. Am vaguely recalling ~$100-120. Milwaukee deal hunters please correct me if I am wrong.

Just out of curiosity, why do you need two die grinders? Does having two help with a single job?

Well, I won't speak for the poster you asked. But there are lots of reasons to have more than one of something. The most obvious being having a different tool in each. Having 2 circular saws might have a construction blade on one and a cross-cut blade on another. Maybe with drills you could have a pilot drill in one, a finish size in another and a counter-sink in a third. It doesn't add capability. It adds convenience. BTW, I have 5 drills. I have more than one of a few things and I am just a DIYer these days.

I don’t do a lot of production work where it helps to have multiples of the same tool but with different attachments at hand for speed and convenience, but I do have multiples of the same tool — at different properties.

I just work on personal projects and it would be for convenience. Not necessary at all. I am used to have multiple air die grinders with different attachments and like the convenience. I just cut on my air less and less now given Milwaukee offerings. One would have carbide burr and other a sanding drum.

Thanks. I totally get it with drills and screw guns.

I currently have zero die griders, probably the main reason I asked.

GM has a service bulleting advising against that for engine work, be careful.
Good thing I don't work on GMs haha. Seriously though, why? They are too aggressive and take off the aluminum causing surfaces to not seal? The abrasive I'm using on the roloc is specifically setup for working on aluminum and allegedly safe for all gasket surfaces on an aluminum motor. I do know you need to be selective though. Is there another reason?

I beleive its the small abrasive particles left behind from the discs themselves. Gets into the engine and does not get filtered out.

Anyone have a good price for the m12 1/4" hex fuel driver? Kicking myself for not getting the kit for 99 during HD holiday sales.

Hammer drills go for as low as $60 on eBay so you might have $120 in the impact, batteries, charger and bag, which is fair. I don’t need cases, bags or chargers so I have been focusing on bare tool deals or bare with just batteries.

$10 an amp hour for m18 seems to be a decent rule of thumb although would argue there probably should be some delineation between HO and XC as HO should have a slight premium in my mind.

Not sure if there is an M12 rule of thumb. For some reason those are always more expensive on per amp hour basis despite being lower voltage and no electronics in the batteries. The Milwaukee profit margins must be higher on those although the knockoffs seem to be more equivalent substitutes.

Pulled the trigger on the trim router deal :)
I would say closer to $20 per amp hour from ACE hardware.

My current local Ace doesn't have too many Milwaukee deals, but my old local Ace before I moved actually got me into Milwaukee. They would have a rep come out every now and then that would do some of the package promos. I miss my old Ace.
