Any good father's day deals? Looking for an M18 fuel 1/2 impact or a grinder with battery and charger. Just getting into the M18 stuff so a charger is a must.

If your store still has the 6ah starter kit, buu it in store. Grinder will be $120, batteries $180 on your receipt. Decide what's worth it that way

the 2880-20 (newer) 4/5-5" grinder is supposed to be closer to corded power, at 11amp equivalent, and it has an electronic clutch for kickpack protection. Not to much different form the 2780-20
The Northern Tool website does list the hatchet kit for $269 (item 101819), and the tool only for $189 (item 101818), but they also list a hatchet plus free battery, charger, and bag for $189 (item 113488).

I was just about to purchase this, but when I add it to the cart (and go through the checkout process), the price is $319.
When I first clicked your link just a few minutes ago, the price showed as $189. Now, when I go back and click your link, or enter the item # on NT's website, it comes up $319

The free battery and charger with the Hatchet seems to be a promo a few places has. Toolnut.com lists the promo, but it expires June 19th and they are out of stock on the Hatchet. You might find another place that has the promo. The only deal Home Depot has is a free extra chain if you buy online.

I wouldn't worry about the warranty as long as the tool works properly when you receive it.

I believe if it's authentic Milwaulkee, then warranty coverage is by Milwaulkee and you would deal directly with them or one of their certified repair shops/locations.

I have seen a couple other vendors that list the promo, but all out of stock and all ending 6/19. A shame if I missed that one. Worth keeping an eye on the Northern Tool site to see if the price changes back.

The difference is if you buy from an authorized retailer, the warranty starts with the date of purchase/on the receipt. If you buy from another source the warranty starts with the date of manufacture on the tool.
Thank you for clarifying that. I always wondered if they'd be warranted at all. Is the DOM clearly labeled on the tool (or battery)? I never thought to look for one.

Agree with the above that the father's day Milwaukee deals are slim pickings this year. Might have to buy myself other stuff, other than Milwaukee, on behalf of my kids for father's day.

That's awesome your Depot operates like that, but that is not how the warranty is supposed to work. Stores take care of issues during the return period, and then after that, just like the name implies you contact the manufacturer for the manufacturer warranty.
If the store still sells the same model, then it's relatively easy for them to do an exchange and get their money back for the bad unit, but that is *not* how the warranty process works 99% of the time, just about everywhere.
Consider yourself lucky your Depot works like that, at least for now. When the right new mgr comes in, they very well could end that.
Even if you get the extended warranty from HD, they don't handle that in store, or supposed to (there is always an exception)
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for easier warranty swaps, but I've worked enough retail to know the warranty game, and expecting the store to handle it is usually unlikely.

For anyone debating the M12 Hatchet, it's a fantastic little saw. Mine got a ton of use over the weekend after a storm came through and dropped some trees, topped others, and put a tree on my house. My neighbor was super impressed with it, and then when family came to help us clean things out over the weekend, I handed it to my FIL to trim all the branches off the downed trees and get things small enough to fit in a trailer or be drug to the curb, while I ran my chainsaws. He too was impressed. A single battery lasted almost all day.
One note, I picked up a new chain for my hatchet Friday morning, when I was at HD getting a generator. The Milwaukee branded chain was $22 while the Oregon branded chain was $14. Same chain.
I've found that Napa often has some of the best deals on Milwaukee although they are not advertised well.

Yep, Oregon R28F. Make sure you get the F version as the R28 is not a full chisel and has half the cutters. Others have commented this leads to slower cutting and catching/choppy cuts. I have not tried that chain, but I know I prefer a full chisel chain unless I'm running a longer bar than I should on my chain saws so it makes sense.
