Thanks, but why? I've seen at one person here recommend a Hackzall for cutting roots / stumps. Are they significantly slower at cutting branches (than a Hatchet)?

Hackzall with a good pruning blades works well on smaller branches or roots. Hatchet or larger versions for the bigger branches

Added on the new utility knife with the screwdriver to bring it over $200 and then used 280425 for $30 off $200

I'm thinking this hachet might be a good size to ride around on the zero turn with me for low branches but not take up much space when stowed

Might I suggest a cheaper route for low branches:

I live on 5 acres of dense woods. There isn't a branch on any tree that can't be handled with shears or loppers while standing on the ground. A Hatchet for a 1/2" branch is just silly

I have a few sets of 24” handle pruners I use before dragging out power tools and a bow saw will cut a few branches faster than you can go get the power tool. But, I have 12” pruner blades for the sawsall and hacksall and I have the chainsaw when they are needed. I also have the fuel blower, but I am waiting for the M18 yard rake and automatic leaf bagger. These are all convenience items for most people, not necessities.

Hate when that happens...

But, that's better than driving around chasing "low inventory" ghosts on BS and HD websites, only to find zero actual inventory (or at least, buried somewhere in the store that no one will ever find the item).

That has happened to me in every “deal” at Northern Tool. I don’t bother with them anymore.

This is only the first time NT has cancelled one of my orders.

I'm still thinking about running out there and buying the bare tool (I have a 6.0 battery).
Or
I'm thinking about going to HD and getting the M18 pole saw. I can use both, but don't want to buy both right now...

Too bad there's no deals on either right now...

I only buy chainsaws from brick and mortar stores with actual inventory on the shelf.

...And set up and running from a dealer?

Otherwise, what's the difference? Box stores are just a storage location during the shipping process (unless you need to return an item AND they're willing to take it).

And set up and running from the dealer, correct.
The Hatchet everyone has been talking about doesn't require any setup. Mine came perfectly adjusted out of the box.

I bought mine at an actual Northern Tool retail store and all they did was hand me the box. I had no expectation that they would do any more.

Gas chainsaws? Of course

Battery ones? Nah...buy from any reputable site.

Agreed.

But, I've bought a gas saw from Lowe's, it came in a box, was quick to put together, and started up without issues. Trying to find dealer service later wasn't as easy (you get sent to the back of the line if you didn't buy it from their small shop).

Well I was SOOO close to clicking the button.... but I have 4 corded angle grinders that will do the same darn thing. If there was a Fuel angle grinder on sale I might have bought.
And FYI there are a few sets on sale and the 15% off goes on top of the sale price. I signed up for the email to get another $10off code but that does not work on items already on sale or discounted.

But this is a Good deal

Been wanting the M18 18-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Jobsite Fan (Tool-Only) for awhile and was going to buy it from HD and saw that Ace had it on-sale for $99.

Since Ace is not convenient for me, I went to HD and asked them to match the price. Was told they don't match Ace, but when I told them their web-site did not restrict price matching, they sold it to me for the Ace price..... :ROFLMAO:

It is very loud for how much air it moves and chews through batteries. The new M12 fan might be better, haven't looked into it. I've used the fan a few times, it is good in a pinch but I wouldn't want to rely on it regularly.

Your lucky your store chose to use their noggins and read their posted policy. I've got the we don't do Ace, tractor supply, and Blaine's. Each for different reasons.

Ace: they are too small, we don't compete. One of our Aces has a larger DeWalt/Milwaukee offering than any HD. Yes you compete for my dollar

TSC: we don't match farm stores. Funny not on your list of exclusions

Blaine's: they aren't an authorized seller. Funny they have real Milwaukee reps at events (not TTI), use Milwaukee rebates, and all is new and warrantied by Milwaukee.

Call HD corporate, and they always say they will match, and according to their terms, the retailer doesn't have to be local or have a brick & mortar location. Which is another on-the-fly excuse the come up with. Oh, whatever retailer is farther than **-miles than our store. Then a few weeks later at another store it's yy-miles. Well, which # is it guys, as neither is listed on your site and isn't an exclusion.

Sorry to rant, but with prices ticking up faster at some retailers, getting a price match is sometimes the easiest route. Can only go by what they post in their own policy.

I definitely would get the M18 fan for $100 over the M12 which is now also $100. Too loud & concentrated stream

I definitely used the argument that there weren't any exclusions listed that I could find. I think the cashier finally gave in when the register allowed her to adjust the price based on a "competitor" price match. I originally considered the M12 as I have both M12 and M18 tools/batteries. The dB rating was lower on the M18 and the ability to plug it in was the deciding factor. Further, getting the price match, made it a no brainer for the M18. Noise levels aren't an issue to me. I wear hearing aids and typically when working in the shop I'm streaming music into them and it mutes outside noise sources. Oh, and the funds to buy it were a freeby from my company...... :ROFLMAO:

Interesting. I have 3 of them, and they're all great. Battery life is rather incredible. On a 5.0 they'll easily last all day on low, which moves a ton of air and is really quiet. They are definitely "personal" fans, though. I can see the air movement complaint if you're trying to use them at room scale.

Couldn't agree more. I've gotten some of those same excuses when trying to get a price match at HD, it's annoying that these employees don't know their own policy. Online/telephone never fails, but the gymnastics that the brick & mortar stores make you go through sometimes is exhausting.

The last time I used mine was a few days ago. I think my 5.0 battery lasted 3 hours at full speed. The battery was about 75% charged.

First planned use will be as a personal fan for SWMBO at an anticipated 90 degree outside event...... I'll be bringing a 8.0 and a couple of 5.0s, of course fully charged.... :ROFLMAO:
