M12 Hex Impact Driver 2553-20 (tool only)

$81 at Amazon
Milwaukee Electric Tools MLW2553-20 M12 Fuel 1/4" Hex Impact Driver (Bare) - - Amazon.com

Same tool is $99 at Home Depot and $139 at Zoro.

That is the 3rd gen model, just replaced last month with new offerings. The $99 price at HD was with a 2ah battery, so closer to $60 when you could order. Kit was also $150 plus 2ah, but also sold out.

New kit is $230 + 2ah, so $180 out the door on the kit.

While it's a more than capable tool, I personally wouldn't pay the $80 to Amazon for an older tool.

There’s YouTube videos and probably other social media describing how to hack but I bet Home Depot likes it because it brings people to the store or site and that’s the whole point of advertising. If you buy the tools there’s a good chance you will buy the accessories and consumables. It’s also taking sales away from their customers. Now that I have a bunch of Milwaukee tools, I’m not about to go out and buy dewalt or Makita, I’m going to stick with the brand that my batteries fit. Companies love customer loyalty. Seems like smart marketing to be.

Some of us don't need the "latest and greatest", even though the marketing department says otherwise. The 4th-gen tool costs $139 at HD (tool only). Is it worth 74% more dollars than the 3rd-gen? Some say yes, some say no. I just ordered the $80 version at Amazon.

Having 3 Milwaukee drills ranging from non hammer 10 years old to hammer 7 years old to hammer 1 year old, I can say the chucks are not great. Have replaced 1, need to replace another and even the newest one loosens up regularly. But maybe I could replace a chuck for much less than the price difference between the last model and the new model.

Pay $45 at HD. A few back in stock at HD. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwauk...Hex-Impact-Driver-Tool-Only-2553-20/303205819

In any case, you are over paying for an old tool at $80. I get I'm giving a break down of the new kit, but it isn't difficult to sell what you don't need. Each tool is worth $80, 2 batteries, charger & bag are the other $70. That's before any discount, which makes it $178 right now.

Thank you!

$99 for a Fuel impact driver and a 6.0 battery is a fantastic deal.

Acme has a flash sale today. Nothing too amazing.
Honorable mentions:
M12 6" hatchet for 160
M12 8" hedge trimmer kit for 220
M18 mower kit for 1000
Recon M18 surge for 100 (this might be the best deal)

I am working at a Milwaukee dealer that is much smaller than HD. But a free tool came today as a rebate. It has a void decal over the bar code.
Since it came from Milwaukee stock, they had the opportunity to label it. When HD gives a freebie from THEIR STOCK, that opportunity is not there.

I've been wanting to purchase the M12 3/8 Ratchet some a good while and decided to jump on it yesterday while at the local HD. I purchased the M12 starter kit with two 6.0 Ah batteries and charger for $199 and got the M12 Ratchet.

The ratchet has become one of my favorite and most used tools in the shop. I suspect you'll be very happy if you work on cars regularly. That said, looks like you got the lower end one? I don't have experience with that but if you find it not to your liking you may want to bump up to the higher powered Fuel version. It's pretty crazy how powerful they are.

M18 Inflator already seeing a $10 price hike. Still $169 at Napa, and 20% off this weekend.

PO Drawers eligible too

2 drawer https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/MIL48228442?
3 drawer https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/MIL48228443?

Pulled the trigger on the inflator, ordered one to try it out for now. Should arrive later this week. $144 with MA tax and free shipping.

Mike

I use and like this one, it's an "Autohaus" brand from amazon.

My M18 inflator arrived today! I don't love that NAPA shipped it in the Milwaukee (retail) box. Thankfully, I live in a low-crime area, so it didn't get stolen off the front steps...

Now to order one of those chucks...

Yes it's the non fuel version. Is the fuel version that much better? I was under the impression that the non fuel model is pretty good for most task and smaller in size so easier to fit in certain places.

I'm not 100% sure as mine is an older model and they've gone through some changes. But, at least for the generation of my tool the fuel version was much more powerful.

I think it depends a lot on what you're doing with it. Personally, 3/8" drive is large enough for me to want some power. If I'm using it in the engine bay, suspension, exhaust... then it has to have some muscle. For things that don't need the power (interior panels maybe?) then I'd just want to step down to a 1/4" drive to gain that space saving you mention.

I actually asked a question about this a while back. The details escape me now as I clearly didn't commit them to memory, lol. But here's where that conversation starts: https://www.garagejournal.com/forum...addiction-thread.244666/page-618#post-9570824

I'm not in a huge rush but eventually I'd like to upgrade my 3/8" one and then layer on the smallest 1/4" option they have and I think between those two tools I'll be fully covered. Of course, YMMV based on your needs.

I have the plain ol' non-Fuel version, and I like it fine. It never leaves me wanting for more power and I appreciate the smaller head size, but I might upgrade to the higher speed Fuel version because the regular one is just a smidge slower than I like, but I'm also impatient. It's still one of my favorite tool.

I'm holding out on a ratchet until the high speed 3/8 long reach fuel comes out. Should be anytime now

Also, the M12 RA die grinder in my cart has dropped to $140. I can get for $80 after points cash.

Is it worth it to rehab a 6 year old grill? I dont do any metal work
Quoting myself, but think Im going to go for it, down to $139 now, and I can think of 3 projects that I can use it on:

-rehabbing on old Craftsman box my dad gave me
-rehabbing an old John Deer lawn tractor my Dad gave me
-rehabbing our grill

That enough reasons for another tool? lol. Id just have to see where/when I could do them with the honey-do list :(

I picked up the M12 right angle 1/4 die grinder for $90 off of FB. Wow, it puts my pneumatic one to shame. Faster, more power, etc. I've listed a few air tools that I won't use now that I have them in M12.

Anyone know if this deal is in stores as well? Or just online orders?

I ordered. Might return the batteries. I like the little usb lights and have 3 or 4 and extra batteries but run the batteries dead doing car projects. Have M18 tower lights and M18 rover and stick lights but don’t seem to reach for them as much for car projects. The M12 battery might give me the several hour run time since need. I have the M12 under hood light and like it.
So I ordered the M12 light with the M12 starter battery pack for $129 intending to return the batteries so the light would be about $45, but when I went to pick up today, HD said I could not return just the battery starter kit. So for me, at least at my HD, the deal was not hackable. I don’t really need more batteries and have a small pile of chargers. I returned everything and will wait for another deal on the M12 light.

If you order them under one sku, then you can't get a pro-rated amount refunded. They often offer the same promo 2 different ways. One where 2 items are added to the cart & both are reduced, or what you likely bought, which is both items under one sku.

Occasionally you get customer service Karen, and wants to deny every return possible. In the off chance you got that, just go in with your credit card and return the portion you don't want

It has to have the red free battery/free tool symbol in the upper left corner to be hackable. If it has a big + sign in the add, it’s not hackable. And like the previous poster said, it has to ring up with two sku’s with a discounted price for each item.
