Hey guys looking for your opinions on some upcoming tool purchases. I'm a big fan of milwaukee tools. I've got a good selection of m12 stuff and some 18v stuff. I recently purchased the 1/2 fuel impact and love it. Does everything I've asked it to so far. I just sold some older corded tools recently with the intent to go cordless. I need to now buy a cordless sawzall circular saw and probably a hammer drill. Now the questions. I'm sticking with milwaukee for sure as it fits my current platform. I've got a m12 impact driver and m12 drill. I also have a corded sds rotary hammer drill. Do I really need a 18v cordless hammer drill. I'm at a loss. I'm temper to sell the m12 stuff and get a new fuel 18v hammerdrill driver. Gotta keep the sds for the bigger holes. I also don't know if I should go fuel or just regular m18 on the circular saw. The non fuel m18 is 100 bucks cheaper then the fuel. I'm not a builder or daily user just nice to have quality reliable tools for my projects around the house. I could also go m12 circular saw but I think I want to stay m18 or fuel for that. Then I've got to get a new sawzall. I've got the hackzall but I think I really need a full size sawzall too. So many options I could buy it all if I could afford it. Any feedback on fuel vs non fuel for sawzall and circular saw. Let me know what ya think. Thanks

Anyway.... My whole cordless collection consists of M12 and M18 tools. I do not have a circular saw yet, but I do have the M18 sawzall. IMO, I would get the NON-Fuel versions (unless you are using them daily professionally).

It is kinda hard for me to explain, but how I see it is; a saw cuts wood, brushless motor or not; but an impact wrench can only take off a bolt if it is strong enough (brushless being more powerful). So, I buy the FUEL tools where it counts, and NON-Fuel where performance is similar. If that makes sense....

I don't have an m18 circular saw, and I am not a contractor, so this will be a bit biased.

I recently bought a m12 circular saw and really love it. I used it to help build a 20'x10' deck at a friend's house. I cut all of the decking (2"x6"s) with the little m12. It never skipped a beat and finished the day on just the one 4 amp battery. I was more than happy with how it preformed and I loved how light it was.

I don't see myself needing any other cordless saw. Whenever I need to cut anything heavier (thicker than 2" nominal), I'll pull out the corded circular saw and an extension cord. Quite honestly, I don't see myself ever buying larger cordless tools again; the m12 line (especially the Fuel series) has more than enough power for anything I do, and that they are lighter and smaller makes it all the better.

I would buy the fuel because they are more efficient and you get more cutting time per battery.

another option is buying refurbs from CPO outlets.. that's what i did for my fuel drill / impact combo.. paid $209 shipped to my house, with 2, 4 ah batteries. prices have gone up since then, but you can still get the fuel kit for around $300... i was very happy with mine.. i have the fuel sawzall, fuel 6.5" circular saw, fuel 3/8" impact wrench, grinder, and ALOT of m12 and some other non fuel m18 at home. i have the m18 non fuel hammer drill / impact at work.. both are great, you wont be disappointed with either..


i went fuel for home use, just because these will probably be my cordless tools for the next 15-20 years, just like the dewalt 18v nicad stuff was before, so in my mind it was worth the money - but i also had the money to blow.. your case might be different, but honestly, either line is a great option, and now they even have the non-fuel brushless drill/impact you can consider also..
