They curve around pretty well... Do they meet a requirement of some sort? No idea.

The best thing about them - they don't fog up...

If they comply with OSHA requirements (and are "true" safety glasses, as opposed to regular Oakleys, etc. that most people try to pass off as safety glasses), they will be stamped/marked on both the frame and the lens with ANSI Z87.1-2003 (not sure if 2003 is the latest standard, but something along these lines will be on the frame and lens).

Alright I'm in for a couple of these bad boys. Anything that gets me to wear them more often is worth a shot. While I was at it, for good measure, I got one of these:

Sperian Protection S8500 Bionic Face Shield

Thanks for the nudge I needed to get this stuff. It's always easy to buy new tools, but safety stuff I really needed to upgrade.

I get mine from the same place I get my other glasses. They also sell the clip on side shields, but they tend to come off too easily.
The best thing was that we could charge put the cost of our safety glasses, and other required safety equipment, on our expenses.

I bought the same safety glasses a few months ago when they were on sale for $5.99. They are very comfortable so much that I forget that I have them on and walk into the house after finishing up in the garage with them still on (wife gives me a funny look). Don't fog up and are quite sturdy (dropped them a few times.)

There are online places, I have found several via the woodworking forums. That said, I would prefer to see them when I buy. Since my local place (an Opthomologist a relative works at, that sells glasses), doesn't carry them, I ended up picking up my safety glasses at Sam's club. I USED to have some that worked over my prescription glasses, but when I changed styles, they no longer fit (a big problem with different frames).

Just an FYI for anyone who may be interested in these--I will be selling these in about a week, at really good prices, especially for larger quantities (say 5 pairs or so). Look for an ad in the classified section here.

OK I just got my glasses today...so far so good they seem fine but I haven't realy put them to the test yet, we'll see how they hold up under fire! I gotta start getting a real glasses case for tehse things, I've got a million pairs that get scratched up in 2 seconds

edit:

I was just sending a link of these to a friend of mine and saw they're on sale right now for $5.99 each! So I bought another 4 pairs and some kick *** hearing protectors while I was at it.

I just got mine in. Ordered a clear pair and a silver tinted pair. Alex71, have no fear. After wearing these yesterday and managing to wander in the house with them on and not realize it for 10 minutes or so, I think I'm going to need several more pairs just to have around! Let us know when you get them!

I'm not even that old (42) but my eyes are going. I picked up some bifocal safety glasses at the woodworking show and can't stand them. The line in the lens is right in my line of sight. Even moving them up or down makes them uncomfortable at best. I only use them for cutting and its a pain switching back to regular glasses for set up and layout work.

I would love to find some 1.5x full lens safety glasses.

If you have your optometrist build them for you, you can have the bifocal line adjusted up or down, just like your reading glasses.

I am sure this can be done, check with an industrial, or welding supply house.

+1 on needing prescription glasses. I've tried prescription safety glasses over the years from my optomitrist (sp?), just don't like them. I keep going back to the "fit-over" goggles. Other than a full face shield, have you had any luck trying a particular brand/design of goggles by chance?
